Game so Nice, I got it twice.

TL,DR: feels like the average MMO downhill spiral. The new developers pivoted from the JRPG-side to the cashgrab that is the Hoyoverse Style.

Timegated content (That gathering leveling is messed up)
while not significant, Gacha does give other players an advantage (meaning they get a better experience),

The game can potentially fund itself now at the cost of eating your time.

For some reason, the big story moment for a character had their "dungeon" cut, and yet repeating that content gives you the whole story? And interacting with everything gives you more rewards? Pretty odd but okay.

They didn't even make hidden lore for anything.

The NEW UI clashes against the OG UI to "follow the anime gacha game design". Meaning that you have different UI philosophies that you have to manage through.

Characters are boring and are pretty one note.
Airona is just "oooo I have a history as an adventurer, and secretly really old god!!! (Information gotten from random dialogue by a NPC in the guild)" When Airona could've been more focused with a stage performer persona that wanted to stay underground but started gaining traction later on. Making her more rooted in the city's celebration. As well as having very distinctive emotions for Major storybeats.
Narulu is a child shonen protagonist that has potential but isn't allowed screentime. He is going to follow the naive archetype or just never grow up.
The lady with red-haired with strands of Yellow in her hair was supposed to have a big emotional moment yet her screentime and pacing was so messed up, I didn't care about her or even remembered her name even when it stares at me during dialogue.
The Villain is just really badly designed and, AGAIN, does not have enough screentime to be interested in.

I know it's labelled as "episode 1" of this potentially long story. Though if that's the case, it should've been limited to Airona and the world as we know NOTHING about the Asterliese besides a War for the city's freedom. They put way too many ideas and events for a Jack of all trades introduction and ended up with a Peasant of all trades story.

Character designs are way too detailed with NPCs being too low detailed to match, again, "Anime Gacha Game Design". (Why they shave my boy Wilbert like that!?!)

Character designs also appear to only be "Big titty anime women" or really buff grandpas. (WHERE'S JAKE?!)

Combat has potential, though the high-end content is, again, Timegated till later.

Levels seem to go to extremely high values, which makes me think of PSO2 NGS and that alone makes me see all the fundamental problems with BP:SR.

Overall: Give it a LOT of time. If you wanted to see the og BP experience, this is not it. It's a re-imagine by different developers using the same assets. You might like it if you're super into the really grindy MMO like Black Desert Online. Though honestly, that design formula is pretty outdated and MMOs as a whole need a completely new flow (which is what base BP attempted to do though lacked the funds to sustain itself).

I love it, it beat my ass for being bad and not reading! I'm surprised at how good it is!

I am suffering

so many builds I must make 30+ builds to do my big brain plays to deal with Chad MCchains. My brain is only so big to win these damn fights with hp around 1000+ while I am with my toothpick for a weapon and a frying pan for armor. Here comes the giant hands that will beat me up if I don't have evasion 8-1000. OH GOD HERE COMES THE GIANT SWORD!!! IT'S GUNNA HIT THE FLOOR!!!! ALL BUT ONE GUY IS STUNNED AND WHY IS THAT ONE GUY AT 6 HP. OH GOD THOSE ARE COUNTER DICE. OH NO HERE COMES ANOTHER ONE. NOOO WHY IS THERE ONLY 2 GUYS LEFT. EGO PAGES WON'T SAVE ME HELP NO PLEASE I DON'T WANNA FIGHT THE FINGERS PEOPLES AGAIN NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

10/10 would cry to sleep again

Honestly, it's pretty buggy. But that's fair with how people are lobby hopping and how people are able to activate a game when a game has already started (public lobbies have the most problems). But I can get some DAMN GOOD games. And honestly, anything online has initial problems. It gets patched after a while. People just need to stay calm and be patience. AND PEOPLE, PLEASE STOP ACTIVATING GAMES WHEN FELLOW KIDS ARE IN BABY JAIL (time out room) OR IN THE MANOR. YOU CAUSE MORE BUGS TO SPARK.

P.S. trying joining lobbies from the spaceship, works a lot better than the one in the DLC lobby.
