Linked my epic games account after it popped up every time I launched the game. Proceeded to get a infinite loading screen.

I'm not sure why people are leaving negative reviews because they expected another The Letter. It was clear from the description that this game was going to be much more reserved and linear. That being said, I thought the game was just okay.

It took me roughly 6 hours to beat the game and I feel as though it could have been shorten down by 2 hours. The game relies heavily on "flashbacks" and honestly put me to sleep more than anything. When I got past those scenes, I found the mystery around the convent incredibly intriguing as well as the struggles the protagonist was going through. By the end of it, I was left with a ton of questions and zero answers. I wish more time was given towards fleshing out the mystery of the convent but I'm okay with what I got.

Also works perfectly on my steam deck idk why it says unsupported

I wanted to LOVE this game but there are too many minor and deeper issues for me to enjoy the game in its entirety, from the “pokemon encounters” to the fake wokeness that feels heavy-handed and disingenuous more than anything.

PROS:

Plays like BL3 with more balanced loot (no legendary drops every five minutes).

Gorgeous environments that play heavy into the D&D theme.

Real character customization after we’ve been asking for years.

Overworld between levels is such a cute touch to the entire D&D experience.

Will Arnett as The Demon Lord!

Side quests are engaging if not a little too immature.

THE MID:

Weapons boil down to BL3 aesthetic guns with a crossbow thrown in every once in a while.

Dodgy writing (much better than BL3 but not as good as BL2).

Pokemon encounters get stale and samey fast.

THE GARBAGE:

Pokemon encounters spawn an enemy in the tall grass even when not crossing through it.
Causing them to walk up to us when we’re messing with our inventory.

Meleeing these encounters will not work 100% of the time, causing a fight sequence.

Poor performance on medium 1440p even with high-end specs (12700k, 3080 12GB). The

fps can go from 100fps to 60fps for essentially no reason.

The fake wokeness.

RANT AND OVERALL SCORE:

The main issue I have with this game is how they introduce a trans character and it feels like 2K meeting a quota for the year on the amount of LGBT representation they should put in their products. 2K and Gearbox make these characters and market them based on their LGBT+ traits. They did the same thing with FL4K (a literal robot made of code) by announcing the character was non-binary. Was it necessary to point out that the character was non-binary? What was the point of that? To convince the consumers that Gearbox and 2K care about the LGBT? I mean, the CEO of Gearbox is quite a character himself to look into, which brings more questions about the legitimacy of the representation that their products offer. Maybe I'm looking too deep into how a trans character is portrayed by 2K and Gearbox. To me however, it feels like they only see a community to cash in. It’s so obnoxious and gross to the point where I cannot enjoy the game.

Either way the game is still mid 5.5/10

The game itself is fantastic but the crashes just screw your progress badly, proceed with caution!
