Michael Pachter, the well-known analyst, tells a funny story about this one time when Activision boss Bobby Kotick visited Tokyo. "Bobby walked into a games store and he was delighted to see a big pile of Activision games, underneath a huge sign," retells Pachter. "He asked what the sign said. An interpreter politely translated - 'Western ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥'."

Currently playing through 1.0 with a friend and this game is tons of fun! Punchy combat, in depth gearing system and a beautiful WoW meets Dauntless (sort of?) art style. Performance for me has been solid and stability has been great with no crashes whatsoever. At around 30 hours we maxed out a single hero with some decent items and had fun doing so and I'm looking forward to levelling another one.

The game has you dungeon crawling looking for artefacts and completing quest lines for the many NPCs around the towns and cities, there's also dynamic events in the over world to keep you busy in between missions with unique tougher bosses too. The dungeons can also be influenced by modifiers that mix up the experience quite a bit forcing you to rethink how you approach combat which is always nice to keep things fresh.

Was nervous taking a chance with this due to the previously well documented launch of the game last year, I can honestly say it was well worth the £20.99 I spent just before 1.0 dropped. I think the developer did a good job rescuing their game from the fate so many live service games face when they fail.

The complete overhaul of the core systems, the drop in drop out co-op and removal of the always online requirement means I can take this with me on my Steam deck and play whenever I want to. To anyone on the fence about trying this for the first time or a returning player, i say give this game a chance and lets show publishers and developers in a similar situation that there's still a captive audience for games like this.
