Not really sure if there is an end goal, but there is plenty to do.
Everyone giving bad reviews don't enjoy the little things and are too worried about completing the game.
How about just survive and enjoy the process

Very grindy, but also lots to do. It's a good time killer and enjoyable with friends in PvE. The PVP is mediocre though because of cheaters.

Game was fun at it's peak, but devs just seem to be releasing more and more content that has no focus on fixing any of the old issues. This made an extremely unbalanced and not enjoyable game over time. If they fix it i would 100% come back and play some more, but until than i can't recommend anyone else to buy it.

Icarus used to be different, but now it fully depends on how you want to play it. You can start your own server with friends and just build endlessly as you progress towards some of the simpler gear or you can also just play missions too. These missions will have you drop onto a planet and you have a time limit to complete your task (You will lose your character if you leave them in a mission past the time limit). There is hours and hours of content and the building is pretty satisfying. The world is gorgeous and even with a mounts, exploring the whole map takes a good bit of time. There is 3 maps in total. First 2 maps are pretty similar and 3rd map is an entirely new world. Gun play and Crafting both feel great. Nothing beats getting slow-mo kills with a bow across the map. Dev team releases content WEEKLY. The weekly updates might not all be big, but you are promised something new each week you log in.

Overall ..very fun and tons to do and explore. Always worth coming back to with a month or two in between just to see what's new. I would highly recommend getting it on sale if you can.

Cons:
• Optimization for this game is fairly poor. I'm running it on a higher end PC and loading new areas and sometimes just running too fast seem to drop my frames. I have played with the settings a bunch and they are smoother now, but still needs work.

• You have to pay for the other maps. So initially when you buy the game you will be able to play all the mission on the first page, but you reach a certain point where you need map 2 (Styx) just to keep playing more missions. Map 3 also has content of it's own and even some late game items that take the maps own Exotic currency just to get them. The cosmetic packs i kind of understand, but i feel like selling skins stand alone would of been a tad better to lower cost instead of buying whole packs. The maps are also expensive considering base game is already $35.

• No system when you pay for a server to play with friends on the mission oriented maps to actually save the maps. I feel like they will add something in the near future, but as of right now only Outpost (paid for creative mode maps) can be saved.

• Between every update it is different, but as of now when you join others for missions when any player leaves in a pod it kicks all other players out and you have to rejoin the mission. NOTE: Make sure party leader is last to leave, because i have had party leader leave and it just closed the entire server not letting me join or get the items that i brought in back.
