Simple, fast-paced procedurally generated action platformer with a lot of charm, and a bit of depth. It emphesises and rewards speed, allowing you gain momentum and snowball, almost like in the Sonic games. It is the type of game you might do a few runs of at a time since they are relatively short (up to about 15 mins if successful), but I have played it for hours at a time without getting bored.

It is fun, and very challenging (took me 10 hours to beat for the first time), especially once you get into the late-game stuff. It is a repetitive game like most procedurally generated types are, but the gameplay is enough fun to carry it, and it mixes things up often with new rooms and enemies appearing, item unlocks and new game modes. It even comes with a comic which you unlock page-by-page as you progress, and you can also unlock a free download link for the soundtrack, which is decent overall with a couple of high-points.

Some unlocks make you stronger at the start of every run, which is a questionable design choice for this type of game but it isn't a big deal ultimately. There can also be small technical issues with using controllers, you should be able to hold d/f to run while crouching, if you can't then you will need to troubleshoot that a bit.

The DLC isn't neccesary to enjoy the game, in fact I recommend not buying it at all until you have beaten the base game. If you make it that far, then I would recommend the DLC if it is on sale.

Worth full price IMO, but it often goes on sale for dirt cheap. Solid game, I strongly recommend it.
