Absolute chaos, effortless replayability, the classic Source engine, and incredible survivor accuracy with any gun makes this game easy to pick up, easy to learn, and easy to enjoy without things getting stale. The common infected feel less like threats, and more like angry ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mosquitoes. These mosquitoes are deadly, but they are only the decoys. The real threats are the more tanky, more clever, and more unique "Special infected" who hold the power to wipe entire teams of survivors if they make a big enough opening. These infected spawn at any time, in any location, as any random variant, so the game never feels exactly the same as the last time. First stage, you and your team gets crap weapons, and run into a randomly placed Tank. Its only ever unfair when the dice make it so, so you cant be mad when playing co-op with friends.

But that's the thing. If you are going to play this game, it should NEVER be alone. This game is designed around playing with friends who want either A, sweatass, or B, wind down and lean back. You never wanna play as one if your team will be the other. You must either all want fun, or all want results. I personally find the most fun when everyone is just kinda going real fast, yet easy. Almost like everyone has a serious case of "W+M1".

When youre playing Versus, its a different story entirely. Super Gate-keepy community, in fact they're known for it. When you suck as infected OR get jumped by obvious traps, your team will really lay it into you, and make sure you know you suck. If you really want to be a part of versus mode and not get flamed and votekicked, study up on youtube for help.

Each special infected has its own niche use in the L4D2 meta. Boomers are valuable for making hordes happen, which can help the other special infected get a solid hit in without much trouble. The charger causes pure chaos and scatters the survivors, and gives them anxiety whenever it works. The smoker is the sniper, yoinking a lone survivor when the team is distracted with other infected. The hunter is basically a long range, loud, and angry TF2 spy, who can pounce on the guy coming to save the smoker's prey. The Jockey is the stereotype nephew with adhd; coming to get you away from your friends and drag you off to show you something, probably another infected, or until they finally wear you down. And there's more infected than that too, also serving their own niche purposes.

I believe i got this game on package deal AND a sale, making it hella cheap. IDK what i paid for this game, but id say modern day, i would personally value this game about 15 dollars, maybe even 20
