Sony backed out of their stupid decision which means this game is back on my recommended list. If you enjoy frantic action with friends, this game is for you. It still has some bugs that needs to be pulverized (hehe) but is otherwise a solid experience.

I will leave my old review so we remember Sony tried to be stupid and gut its golden goose.

OLD REVIEW:

Game had so much going on for itself until Sony decided to shoot itself in the foot. I wasn't sure at first and thought making a PSN account would be harmless but no.

Sony got hacked a few times (2011 and 2023) and millions of users got their personal information and passwords compromised, the game works perfectly fine without the login and their so called security mandate with the accounts is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Them trying to force accounts now seems more of an artificial way to boost psn numbers.

Also 170+ countries are losing access to this game despite having had access to it before because of this linking process. What a way to absolutely ♥♥♥♥ up a game's community and sever what was basically an Earth vs the universe kind of game.

I truly feel bad for the devs having worked hard on this game but this should be a message that we don't take ♥♥♥♥ from publishers anymore.

What a year of my favorite games getting ♥♥♥♥ on by publishers, I am slowly losing hope in gaming.

I am not one to usually review games and while I was really enjoying this game and was hopeful for the future of Tekken, they really decided to go full ham on the monetization of this game.

I was ready to accept the Tekken shop as a little side something that people can spend a bit of extra money if they feel like supporting the game a bit more over their initial purchase but the battlepass isn't that.

The idea of a battlepass by itself isn't a bad idea, play the game, earn goodies but the timed nature of it leans heavily into FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). In a 70$ game, this kind of thing should not exist let alone in any games. We should not allow companies to prey on people's compulsive behaviour over artificial scarcity of digital items. Think of the younger people getting into this game who might feel ostracized and bullied by their peers over not having x skin and feeling like they have to shell out what little money they have just to feel accepted, now think of that over every seasons of said battlepasses.

This isn't amount supporting the game long term, it's more about nick and dimeing their fan base and maximizing profits at the expense.

Get the game if you like Tekken, the story was fun, the online is fun (Minus the pluggers, but hey battlepass is more important than implementing a system that makes the player disconnecting lose automatically but what do I know). But please do not engage in such atrocious effort to leech money. I already fear what they will do for Tekken 9 if we let them get away with this. Thanks for reading.

Great game, great community and great replayability (If you get enough servers).
Game can be quite buggy and clunky at times but mostly results in some good laughs and not frustration which is still a + but still please fix your bugs. xDDD
