A genuinely wonderful experience. The sort of game you play at night when things are calm and quiet, and even if you don't spend a penny on it at least one playthrough of the 'campaign' is well worth it and one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences ever.

Bought this game after seeing some amazing looking YouTube videos and I did have some fun running around doing my own thing however once you start getting into the meat of the product it all seems to fall apart.

I joined up with a clan of experienced folks with the idea of getting into larger operations and despite the meticulous planning of those guys it was an absolute sh1tshow. It's too easy for people to use 'spies', basically dual-logged across both factions to watch the oppositions movements and worse actively steal blueprints, grief others etc. This is supposedly a bannable offence though doesn't seem to slow them down.

When those griefers weren't interferring it was the game that was causing problems. Three times we sent a large invasion force with dozens of barges full of tanks, trucks loaded with supplies, troops etc and the moment we tried to cross a zone border things just broke. Tanks and trucks would just vanish into thin air during the transition, sometimes whole barges. We pulled back, contacted the 'moderations' which are basically GM's/first-line customer support and waited. To paraphrase the response - 'bad luck, deal with it'. So we rebuilt over the next few hours and tried again only to have the barges and gunboats that made the crossing all end up stacked on top of each other. Yes, literally a vertical stack of ships and barges loaded with tanks etc all piled on top of each other and unable to move. 2 GM's and a developer turned up but vOv. My APC despawned and I ended up drowning in the middle of the ocean. This was about 5 or 6 hours AFTER we started out.

So all in all, the idea of a grand large scale war that you're a part of sounds great but the reality is the game will make that very difficult to accomplish and when you add in the griefing and exploits it becomes an unenjoyable experience. Yes there is some fun to be had, but it's hard to see all your progress undone because a griefer drops artillery on your defensive position and wipes your guys out so the enemy can rush in unapposed.

Get the game on sale if you really must but otherwise wait it out and see if the devs fix it or the community jumps ship.

I'm running a single player game as well as a full party with my DnD bros and because of how different actions impact the world it's a completely different experience. Love this game, it's an instant classic.
