Early Access Review
I've removed my old review because it did not represent the game in it's current state (1.8 update)

I've got 86 hours in the game and I enjoyed every part of it. There were always some things that needed to improve, it had it's quirks and issues. That is fine because it's early access. But I'm currently changing my review from recommended to not recommended.

What has changed today? The Oculus Quest release. Because Onward was a game with long loading times and high CPU usage the game needed to get a performance update. This has been achieved by degrading all textures and polygons. The game currently looks like a Playstation 2 game when looking at just textures and models.

Also sounds have changed drastically. A PKM sounds just like a silenced pistol and a M249 like a stapler.

I've played 3 games on 2 maps in this update and then I had to stop because the new black ring around your view when you get hit is quite nauseating. This is the first time in 2 years that I get nausea from VR.

To end on a more positive note: They have done at least one thing right in this update. The AI has been updated so it seems they try to flank. Also you gen get up to 128 AI in a single game, which makes it all bit more fun.

=====

In the current state of the game (1.8) I can not recommend the game. I'm positive Downpour Interactive will fix these issues in a future update and will update my review accordingly.

Played with Index + Index Controllers
I can see the great gameplay in this game, though the movement controls are the worst Ive seen in a game so far. Teleporting should be great but instead of just point and click it's point, click and shake controllers with a lot of frustration until one teleports.

I'm really dissapointed in this game but it's not it for me.

I've had this game for a few years now and thought it was a waste of money until I got a HTC Vive a year ago. Playing this in VR makes the game a lot better. Later on a friend with a steering wheel and pedals came by and that made the game really well (as long as you don't care to much about graphics). Text on roadsigns is difficult to read (which is the case in almost any VR game). The game is really relaxing until you dont slow down enough when making a sharp turn, the fear of tipping over is real, don't take a turn with 50km/h, its horrifying.

TL;DR
+ VR supported (still in beta)
+ Very relaxing
- Graphics, trees are just billboards.

EDIT:
I now have more than double the hours I had before and with the Index and SCS keeps adding new cities to visit with new DLCs or by updating existing DLCs or the base map. The rework in Germany is looking good.

This is the best strategy game I've seen for VR so far. I heard someone else say it has gameplay mechanics of a mobile game, and I do agree with that. But I do also think it's a good thing, I don't want to play to "advanced" RTS games (like AoE) in VR.

I recommend this game but I would wait until the game is on sale. 40 bucks is a lot and I'm not sure what the replayability of this game is yet.

Early Access Review
This is the review of release 0.10ea. Things can and will be changed, will update this with a new release.

I can see a lot of potential in this game, but don't expect a fun game yet. There are a lot of bugs I've found with only playing 15 minutes.

+ Potential
+ Music
+ Feeling

- Changing resolution while playing makes the world disapear, only tiles, players, trees and the HUD is still visible.
- Changing resolution doesn't redraw the HUD, but will change the position for the mouse.
- Changing resolution makes cards black and unable to use them.
- Some route choices are really difficult to make because there is something in the way (tree or hill). I couldnt find a way to show the whole map.

Is this game worth buying? At the moment, no just leave it on the shelf unless you want to help the developer make it better. In my eyes this game has a lot of potential, but it just isn't that much fun yet.

EDIT:
Within 12 hours of posting this review Chickenbuilds contacted me to get the specs of my PC so he could find and solve the problem. I've full trust that this game will reach its full potential one day.

[Played 2 episodes, waiting for the rest of the season now]
All I can say is that if you like rollercoasters than you will love this trip in an amazing emotional rollercoaster. The other seasons of Tell Tales The Walking Dead where like a merry-go-round compared to this emotional rollercoaster. I just finished these episodes and I really don't have any other words than WOW.

-----------------------------------

I've now finished the whole game and all I can say is WOW. I loved the ending and TellTale Games did a great job on the story which really touched my feelings. It's reallly nice to see how Clementine has grown up since Season 1 Episode 1. To be fair I wouldn't want to meet her in real life, she is one deadly little girl (especially that one period in a month).

A game like no other, the game is easy to learn, a bit harder to master. I've not come that far in the storyline yet, but the story is already pulling me in. I guess the game is also fun when you don't want to get the story but just want to play.

Replayability is pretty good because of the extra tasks like kill a person with a remote bomb, kill the person without being detected, don't disguise yourself, and many more

I would give this game a 9 out of 10.

Really cool game, there are a few bugs that made me exit game and restart a bit before the bugs occured to solve them. I love the art style and the way the story is told. It's worth your money.

Erg leuk spel voor een Work in Progress spel. Als de features die ze hebben aangekondigd (Random world generation, world smoothing) goed uitgewerkt worden zal het nog beter worden :D
