I joined this party of Dwarves trying to mine in space only at the end of 2021 and it is a really solid game, easily my favorite game on Steam right now.
Just imagine what would happen if you were to throw the possible antics of space, mischief of Dwarves, experimental nightmare Bugs from Klendathu ( Starship Troopers ), and a digging mechanic that slightly reminds me of Red Faction.
Things you will enjoy :
Core gameplay loop - Drop, Dig, Destroy the bugs, Dare to survive.
Slowly upgrading your character to be even better.
Build in voice lines, spam your teammates about seeing a beautiful flower.
Laser designator tool to both identify what you are looking at and to ping the attention of your fellow gamers.
Things you will love to hate:
Management.
The trading terminal.
Sometimes the map layout comes from hell.
The fact that the perk system is not as straightforward as it perhaps should be.
Things you will hate:
Everything you hated real people for in Left 4 Dead and other games like that. I mean, For the love of Doretta I just dug a hole from A to B 2 meters on your left carl! why are you taking the long route Carl? Watch out for that Opressor Carl! CARL! Ohkay are we seriously going to fail this mission in the last 4 minutes of the round? CARL YOU DINGUS!

Funny one-liners and hell-girls. If you dislike either of those YOUAREAHORRIBLEPERSON! ... .. apologies, I mean you are not going to like this game. Which means that an easy 90% of the people I know are going to like playing this thing, its about an hour of good content :)

Hell ( pun intended ) I might buy the soundtrack. Wait, Mittsies made the soundtrack ? Why do I remember that name ?

I do not feel so good today, so I thought I would cheer myself up with some horrible games. This one is a very nice one. It took me about 40 minutes and this includes time to make some tea for myself.

You can not jump off of enemies, which had lead me to make a lot of miscalculated jumps. The music is incredibly repetative. And if you are like me and die a lot in the latter levels due to jumping shenanigans I can only recommend you turn the music off.

All in all, 40 minutes well spend, I will not be asking for my money back.

As for the political message, well, it does what it says on the tin. Also I am sorry that I can not do anything for Bernie even if I wanted to.

Best political message this game gave me is that I now have an understanding of how fit the runners must be, because, wow, there is a whole lot of jumping going on here.

Are you kidding me, I played this game for 2222 hours or something ( that is two thousand two hundred twenty two ).

You can think of this game as 2 things

A : Sims meet space-astroid and you need to find a way for them to survive. First up: toilets, bed, Oxygen, food.

B : The Kerbal Space Program of Thermodynamics. Seriously, your base is going to heat up quite a lot on the long run and you need to figure out how to keep everything operational. Hopefully without some sort of vulcano going off right next to your farm.

I have been playing throughout so many patches and updates and every time I had to find the thing that worked best for me personally. Now there are sources online like Brothgar ( youtube ) and the forums, but their explanation of how things work are usually sub-par.

Leading me to whip out ye-olde-science experiment while the babysitter/parrent/guardians are not looking and experiment. Should it explode, there is always a load button.

The good :
* Live out your Mad Max dreams
* Keep on trucking
* References to other popular works of fiction
* Fun mods

The meh :
* combat becomes way too easy once you figure out that you can hammer the spacebar ( pause )
* AI is not particularry intelligent

The bad :
* The game really does not like my windows or my primary monitor. Once it works I seem to be able to alt-tab like normal, but starting is sometimes a pain

Overal : If you like 2 out of 'the good' section, I really urge you to try it. You will probably like it a lot. Or at least until way past where you think you got worth your money. ( 'Bout 3 bags of crisps, whereas it would be worth easily 15 IMHO )

ProTip : Get a parking aid and put it on a heavy vehicle. Game is not really clear on its usage but you can just keep on ramming other vehicles if you have a parking aid on your vehicle. It being a heavy vehicle makes it so that you can kick other vehicles around... Watch out for that cliff... **crashy noizes**

This game is great, it was sertainly made with a controller in mind but it is still really great on a keyboard, once you figure out the controls. Left shift or right shift kinda shenanigans.

Immagine a universe where DoomGuy was a pest-control expert, the game was somehow 2D, could not jump, but had a dash.

The premise is simple enough, you have to clear a room of bugs within the timer.

The art ( even the things you have to shoot ) look cute. The upgrades are really rewarding ( they might cost a lot of coins, but when you get them, you FEEL that you unlocked them ), the vibe of badassery and your toon KNOWS it is awesome ( I just compared him to DoomGuy after all ), the sound is nice, the music is fitting ( might get repetative in the long run, will come back to this after I have played some 20 hours or so ), and though they have no voices ( rather using some sort of brabblespeak like in The Sims or Magicka ) it fits.

I have yet to try out the multiplayer. I will revisit this review when I do.

If I had to give an arbitrary 1-10 score it would be a 9 or a 10. I like everything about it. But I am not sure if it has staying-power

( I plan to update this review later once I got way more time on it )

Immagine waking up one day and suddenly you can not play your ( modded ) game anymore, All I asked for was to drive around in my 2003 Ferrari 360. But NOOO. I have to go out of my way and read the most discusting and vile thing on the internet about how there is apparently a war on mods going on. Well, great, you know what they say about pandora's box.

Should Take Two Interactive ( the ones responsible for knocking over a domino effect responsible for removing my Ferrari ) reverse their war on mods I would be happy to reverse this negative recommendation.

You can't give someone their toys and then take it away from them without expecting a storm.

I just got 100% of the achievements in this game. I'll be completely honest, the game itself RHEALLY likes to drag itself on, and on, and on, and on. The story progresses about as fast as an MMO. Which is not too surprising seen as it was first developed as an MMO. Alledgedly ( and kinda jokingly ) the people developing KoA got scared when they saw the half digested corpse of many-a-many MMO's lying in front of the cavern called "World of Warcraft". As such The caracters are non memorable to me in the slightest, then again I had the same problem when I was playing Skyrim, so I am not sure how they could have done this well in the first place. Sadly, the main story is somewhat of a joke and you are actually off way better digesting or reading a good book.

Sadly, there is not much in the way of challenge either, you have to make your own challenge I am afraid ( while still keeping it within boundaries of "achieveable" ( phun intended ) ) Play this game on the hardest difficulty, and whenever you think you are dying too much go invest in some new clothes and/or weapons. I went though almost the entire game in a yellow armour set I think I got from the warsworn campaign, mirrorknives with a lvl requirement of lvl 9, and a set of chakrams. That is, untill I ran up till one of the last bosses and found myself running back to a forge ( I have been hoarding weapon materials like a true hoarder ) made myself some better armour and a shield that could actually block his magic attacks. and... well I pretty much wasted him, also because on the way back I seemed to have picked up some allies which actively fought with me against this big ♥♥♥♥ of a boss. ( did I mention that this boss kept sending waves upon waves of normal foes at me if I took away 15% of his health when I was soloing the bastard ? I did not have much of a hassle with those extra adds when I was not alone on the field, go figure )

"So, what was your reason to play this thing then ?"
I wanted to see if I could, simple as that. I got the game a while back and I decided to go actually play something start to finish ( including achievements if possible ), I made a list, and asked a random number generator to tell me which game I should play.

Needless to say, I won :)

Do I recommend this game ? yes, with a big pulsing asterix. That is, if you can actually stand free to play games and do not mind that they do not have a true ending, I would go play that thing. ( I heard Wildstar will be free to play soon enough, I can recommend that I guess, but I am a sucker for space-themed-fantasy )

Early Access Review
Like makeing things ?
Like trying to make your construction just right ?
"More wheels ! More cannons ! More weight !"
Pick up a couple of sheep and thow them at eachother.
Create whacky constructions of DOOM

Walk in the footsteps of davinchi's wet dream.

I know it is in Early Access but I said it was money well spend ( I would do it again )

For added fun, try to talk a friend through the first campaign. I had quite a bit of fun doing so

The only bad part is that there really isn't a good tutorial availible as of yet, then again I would rather see the Dev put more options and stuff in this pearl than clarity.

I am sure at this point you are really suspicious from any and all "player choices" in story-driven games, especially with things from Bioware ( SWtOR, Mass Effect ) and possibly Black Noire where if you make the most hatefull comment towards this 1 goon you do not like in the end the game will still "force" you to behave like best buds because the game needs to continue in some fashion, right ?

Now I will not say that this game does not share any of those caracteristics, but it seems to have its stuff sorted out way better than any games I have played thusfar. I do not expect for Mr Toad to ever get his Glamour on depending on your choices or anything, but things like that do however "feel" right since Mr Toad is one of those guys you will just love to hate for his scumbag behaviour. Ofcourse you are playing as Bigby, the big bad wolf, so creating a story that really feels more interactive is probably way easier than lets say, for a blank slate. And I say they really pulled it off well.

In short, ever fancied reading an interactive book while lounging back in your chair with your hands on the WADS keys and your mouse ? Pick this thing up. I played though the game once and used a guide to collect the missing "collectables" and I got 16 hours out of it. Now I know I picked it up at a Steam Sale ( Summer 2014 ) but if I knew I would have gotten this much fun out of it I would just have paid the (*checks current price*) 22.99 Euro's for it.

Then again if you are not sure if you would like the game that amount of pricing might scare you off. I know I was scared off by it, especially since I never heard of Fable. Same thing with The Walking Dead, and do I really want to go Back to the Future ? If they are even remotely similar by looks and voice and general aestetics I can vouch for them, but since I am not sure if I want to play their other titles I'd really like to at least taste the atmosphere of those games, perhaps a demo of 1-2 chapters ( 1/6th or 2/6th of an episode ) with all but the "remain silent" and the least picked option availible ? Cus I'd like to try it, but I am not going to pay 22.99 Euro's just to get my feet wet and decide that the pool has too much clorine in it for my taste
