Early Access Review
Fantastic game and I highly recommend for anyone who 1. loved Risk of Rain, 2. has an understood love~hate relationship with RNGsus, and 3. enjoys a balanced yet legitimately challenging roguelike game. With all of the comment said to be coming, I think this is an early access game that is seriously worth your attention.

Early Access Review
A little while ago, in season 1, early season 2, I would have recommended this game and I still would. It is by far the best BR right now but there a few issues that need to be brought up that make this game an easy negative review...

To get the facts straight, the game is great. Gun play is tight, it has minimal balancing issues, map is fun, and the amount of movement in this game is fantastic! Having 3 loadouts to choose from: BMX, Glider, and Grappling Hook, let's you have a lot of surprisingly different ways to play the game. The loot pools seem balanced, I never feel like I am getting screwed over with bad RNG. Even when I can only find one of the worse weapons, I know that with the right positioning and player skill, I can beat someone with a much more powerful weapon. ~great game, 10/9, would play till my PC kills itself.~

However, a few decisions were made within the past few game updates that make it apparent that the game is becoming a very poorly managed cash grab. First off, when the new season released, with new map, new vehicles, new weapons, everything was fine and dandy but they decided to lock down the old map under squads-only, eventually locking all NA players out of the map entirly. Next came the removal of SOLO and DUO queues. This is a BIG problem with the game right now and a lot of people are leaving the game because of it. You are, on the NA servers at least, REQUIRED to play SQUADS. For anyone who has BR experience, this is very bad and easily turns new players off, the devs promising to add it back in shortly. Next, while being forced into squads, they began releasing charms, vehicle skins, weapon skins, and other cosmetics much more, and now the game has loot boxes. And the game still doesn't have SOLO or DUO queues at this point, not does anyone on NA have access to the fantastic, old map. I cannot recommend this game to anyone right now, and I hope the game gets more review like this. If proper queues were added back for NA players, and we had access to the other map, it would be an EASY recommendation. Seeing how the devs would rather release new skins, loot boxes, and other cosmetics, INSTEAD of adding KEY features back into the game, recommending the game is not an option.

(I have also have heard about a lot of players with lower end PCs having horrible FPS problems)

As I said, the game itself is fantastic, easy play over APEX, if you like a slower, more strategic BR over jumping over and over, moving at 20 miles an hour while trying to spray shots at someone. *cough* *cough* Apex *cough* *cough*
I usually only ever play with 1 friend of mine, always queuing up for duos, but now we have to play squads, and because of how bad the randoms can be through auto-matchmaking, we usually just go in with just the 2 of us. In any other BR, this would be an easy loss, but in this game, if you're good at the game, having the proper positioning, an optimized loadout, and lots of communication, you can preform just as good as a full 4-man squad. We have won many matches with just the 2 of us, so the game's balance is fantastic. Hell, I usually hate the inclusion of a 'battlepass' system but this game does it much better than most, it only being 10 bucks. And if you do play the game enough, they just released a new list of simple challenges that, once complete, reward you with the season 3 season pass for free! It's things like that which make me REALLY want to recommend the game. I'll update the review once SOLO and DUO queues get added back. For now, add the game to your watch list, but pass it for now. I'll submit an updated review once these things are fixed, so long as it is soon.

I want to give this a positive review so bad, only because of the 50% off deal, but I can't. The amount of crashes I have had with just a few hours into the game, are you kidding me? 3 crashes to desktop, 1 PC freeze, and 1 blue screen while playing this game. This is insane. I am sick and tired of devs releasing things that aren't ready. Speaking of not ready, this remaster isn't good. It's lazy as LAZY gets. It's passable but they didn't even do much! Better graphics (in most places), far better multiplayer, a hand full of quality of life changes, a few fixes that should have been in the original game to begin with... That's it... Engine still runs multiplayer bad, the shaders on a lot of enemie models are crappy, there are alot of textures that are just straight up downgraded, for some reason there are times where backstabs on NPCs don't go though (I walk behind someone, press R1, and the character doesn't even swing.) If they fixed the game crashing issue, it's ENOUGH for a good review... MAYBE. This version is at least better than the original port. You let me down, QLOC, NAMCO... You let me down.

EDIT: I have figured out a way to (seeminly) stop the crashing; However, I haven't tested it enough to say it's a fix. I switched form borderless fullscreen to standard fullscreen and it SEEMS to have fixed the issue. It's just funny how the remaster adds borderless fullscreen, yet it doesn't even work properly. Note: Despite the 100 or so hours, not including offline play hunting the Ur-Dragon, I have 700+ hours on the console version.

First: this is one of my all time favorite games of all time; it is a very good game... That being said, let me break something down:
- If you want a full, unique, and overall well-rounded story experience, do not buy this game. Being a story and lore junkie will only make you want your money back.
- If you want exciting boss fights, balanced character progression, a deep class/skill system, and challenging gameplay, this game WILL pull you in.

Starting off with the story, it is dull and you WILL forget things and become lost... Well, you can only forget things if there are things to forget so maybe not that... Deep down, yes, the story is kinda interesting and sometimes does allow for good atmosphere*; however, this only happens after completing the mian quest. So, agian, skip this game if story is something you like... That isn't what this game is about. Think of it like this: the start of the story and generic fantacy with a bit of sparkle, the entire middle of the game is a massive blob of random filler, and the end is weird and interesting but still leaves you satisfied.

REMEMBER, gameplay is the gem! It is the only reason it is good! Keep that in mind at all times, thank you.

The filler that I mentioned is not just story filler, the great majority of it is fun, introducing different monsters and quests for you to do, giving you some really great fights. On the surface, the class system seems simple... But once you break off the first layer and look into it, the combinations and skills and augments allow for some really great build; through stat progression and building, weapon finding and upgrading, for both you and your companion, you will feel extremely satisfied with how bad*** your character becomes. Many reviewers of this game call it a hack and slash but it is much more than than.

Think of game in which Dark Souls, Shadow of the Colossus, Monster Hunter, and a hand full of good MMO mechanics all had a fancy love child but it's story was writen by the Two Worlds devs, trying to make the most basic of fantacy plots, then once you finish the main plot, the dev team didn't know what to do and they knew they had to do something so they rolled with the most random final ever, completely telling you to forget about the main plot line and told you to FOCUS ON THE WEIRD *** HOLE IN THE GROUND.....

Sorry for the seemingly unfinished review, I really didn't know how else to explain the game without getting too detailed for a review or too ranty.

Look, just focus on what I said about the love child... :)
