I will give my recommendation in the exact same fashion that my play time with Borderlands 2 happens at home. The players; me, and 13yo, my 13 year old daughter.

M: Sweet, Borderlands 2! I was a pretty big fan of Borderlands, I thought the art style was great and the 'Diablo' style weapons grind was pretty cool. Here, the graphics look even smoother and the play style feels a bit more refined.

13yo: Dad, are you playing Borderlands 2? Can I play when you're done?

M: Yes, when I'm done.

So, the cast of characters have been fleshed out a bit, the Siren returns, and you now have some new members of the crew such as the Gunzerker and the Ninja, as well as the

13yo: Dad, are you done yet?

M: I just started playing, no I'm not done yet. I'll tell you when i'm done.

To be honest, the scenery for Borderlands 2 is not that different from Borderlands 1, so if you thought that was a bit dry and bland, I can see where more of the same might not entertain you as much. However, the quests and story lines are fun enough that they keep you going

13yo: .........

M: Why are you standing there staring at me?

13yo: You said I could play when you're done.

M: But I didn't say I was done yet, go away.

13yo: You didn't say I couldn't stand right here until you were done.

M: Are we seriously going to do this?

13yo: .......

M: I'm going to tell your mom

13yo: I'm going to tell her you spent $20 on video games.

M: Fine.

The moral of the story here? I haven't ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to play Borderlands 2 all the way through, but 13 year old daughters love this ♥♥♥♥. If you're a 13 year old daughter, or even a 13 year old son, just buy it all ready. Chances are though, if you were once a 13 year old son or daughter in the past, you'll probably still dig this too. Shooting stuff and collecting guns is fun!

Hey, we're on level 1, this will be the easy part! Let's just jump over here to this platform and....dammit.. Okay, let's try this again, we'll just get up here and jump...♥♥♥♥, where'd that thing come from? This time, I got it. I gotta go over here, I get right on the edge, then I push up and to the right and jump and....DAMMIT I HIT THE DAMN JUMP BUTTON. Okay. Up on this platform, look out for that lumpy feller over there, get on the edge of the platform, up and to the right, jump and....phew, made it! Now I just have to....oh ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ where are these FREAKING SPIKES from, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! This game is hard as balls in the late game, this is nuts! Wait...what? It's still level 1? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I'm too old for this ♥♥♥♥.

I don't know what the hell is going on in this game, but it makes me nostalgic for those late nights with the cathode glow off my golden Zelda cart. That's gotta count for something, right?

The WTF-ness of it all was cool, until I got stuck, Then I got frustrated. Then I thought I could go look up a guide. Then I figured I had SUPER KAWAII ANIME PRINCESS PUZZLE DROP to play and said the hell with it.

I've got a limited attention span, what can i

Ever since I watched Michael Dudikoff become the American Ninja in the 1985 seminal classic of the same name, I always dreamed of being just that; an American Ninja. The problem was, I was a fat little ♥♥♥♥ so any time I put on the GI, I looked like the Beverly Hills Ninja instead.

Fun fact; that movie was based on me.

Not really. But that's besides the point.

What's important here is that Mark of the Ninja is the best damn Ninja simulator that I've played since I tried to haul my portly ass up a tree with those flimsy little hand claw things you could order in the back of Dad's Soldier of Fortune mags.

You can play through a couple of different ways, so it's a lot like your love life. Some times you want to take it nice and easy, move softly, lull your enemy...er girlfriend into sense of calm so you can slip in get what you need before they realize you're...that' sounds kind of rapey, don't do that. Sometimes though, you just want to get in there and tear ♥♥♥♥ up, blood flying every where, body parts flying, and you can do that too in Mark of the Ninja. Plus, the controls are SWEET! Everything's nice and tight and responds to your lightest touch, again like you're love life.

I think I may have some issues I need to resolve.

That shouldn't keep you from playing Mark of the Ninja though, cause it's cool as Michael Dudikoff.

I like aliens, I like guns, I like blowing ♥♥♥♥ up! That's pretty much all there is to Alien Shoot.er It's basic, but you get to run around in a blocky Area 51 and pew pew pew to your hearts content.

Speaking of pew pew pew...this game's okay and really isn't made for anything other to filling that 5 minutes of wait til while you're on hold on the phone or looking busy when your wife wants to 'talk'.

This would really be better for blasting a dookie on your portable gaming soltion rather than blasting aliens on your high end 'puter.

When I was a wee fatkid, I used ot spend hours on end playing Breakout on my Atari because I lived in the stick and because I was a wee fatkid and didn't have many friends. Also because it was a great game and breaking those little bricks with the ball was addicting and being able to hit just the right angle made you feel skilled.

Then, a few laters, I was a bit bigger fatkid and I played a lot of hours of Alleyway on the Gameboy. Alleyway was breakout, played the same, was just addictive, felt just as good to make those little block dissapear. My mom and I played that for years passing it back and forth.

Now, here's Shatter. This thing's the natural evolution of Breakout and Alleyway, and I see me spending a boat load of hours playing it too. Except now, it's CRAZY! You can manipulate your balls (HURRRR!) and there's stuff flying at you, and there's mechanics, and it's just all around awesome.

It really brings back fond memories of the old days, except this one I'm not going to share with my mom cause it's too complicated and she'll call me all the time asking 'what do I do with the blowing thing' and 'why doesn't explode when I hit that one' and 'why are these things flying at me!' and I already get enough phone calls from her on how to check her email. Don't feel bad though, she's addicted to Candy Crush, that's good enough for her.

This game's a lot of fun and reminds me a lot of the days of my severe Bust a Move addiction! But, while I was fine with the dudes from Bust a Move being nekkid since they were dinosaurs and dinosaurs didn't wear pants, imagine my embarrasment when my daughter walked in while I was playing Magical Drop V and her first comment was "That other girl should really be wearing clothes."

But beyond that, it's a pretty fun puzzler. I'm going to try multiplayer soon, but I swear I'm not being a creeper, I just like puzzle games. For serious. No, really!

Finally, my dreams of being a flying space Yak come true!

I like space ships, I like blowing stuff up, so this game fits pretty well. The backgrounds are awesome and it looks pretty great. The space furries are a little confusing and I'm kind of old, so I get confused when they jump around between different characters over and over, but eh, ♥♥♥♥ blows up and it's purdy!

My only problem? Again, I'm getting old and I don't have the reflexes I did when I was a 13 year old hopped up on Mountain Dew! Hey...maybe I'll get my daughter to unlock the cheevements for me, brb

I played Darksiders when it first came to XBOX and really loved it there. Recently, I decided to revist on PC before starting Darksiders II, and it really holds up great over these past few years. The combat's solid, and the Zelda style exploring and puzzles are really fun. I've heard this described as a Grimdark Zelda and that's pretty fitting. Story's pretty good to boot!
