Pretty much the best open-ended space sandbox out there with actual content, the scale is massive and multiplayer works... enough for said scale. Anything you think the game lacks is probably in the workshop.

Play. This. Game.
Go. In. Blind.

If you like puzzles and mystery just play this game now stop looking at reviews, go in as blind as you can.
I went in with no idea except it being a puzzle game and that was enough, I love this game and I've only solved a 1/4th of the puzzle. Going through the story bits was a constant wtf (the good kind) feeling and now im just overlooking every thing to solve the puzzle. This game is not small, 4 hours in and I can tell you that 3 of those were the story and I rushed it too fast, that last hour and I gareentee 10 more will be to trying to solve this mystery, play this game, stop reading. If you get stuck, DONT LOOK HELP UP, FIGURE IT OUT, I've gotten stuck about 5 times already just figuring out the easy parts of the puzzle and when I completed them it couldn't have been better. And Im the type of ♥♥♥♥ who'll wuss out and google a big choice in the game to find the best option. Dont do that, play blind, play all the way throught blind.

- Amazing Art Style (lot of color options if it hurts your eyes, my eyes got used to it after the first 10-20 minutes )
- Unforgiving Puzzle that is sooooo well thought out
- Just play it, honestly, if you're still reading this just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ play it

So I can't decide whether to reccomend this or not so here's some pros and cons. (I have fully completed the game's story, but skipped most side quests becuase of cons) Cons marked with * are personal grips so you dont have to agree with them.

TLDR: Play for the amazing world and story, but be prepared for annoying and tedious gameplay. Also, murder doesn't matter.

Pros:
- The story, from the start its great and throughout character 1 just stays amazing and builds up the world from the eyes of the common folk. Character 2 continues to keep it up with following this world's elites and their inter-workings.
- The atmosphere and art style are amazing and unique, really gets you into the story and wanting to know more about the world.
- Sides quests are interesting (a few border tedious) and continue to expand this unique world.
- Everything has a very twisted humor to it, such as ridiculous weapons and characters making sarcastic (and borderline 4th wall breaking) comments on events.
- All 3 characters are unique in personality and interaction, down to every voice line. (ex: when fast traveling character 1 will remorse over the past and trains, character 2 references 1930s movies and sings nursery rhymes, and character 3 sings WW2 marching songs)
- Each character has a diferent play style, each having two of three skill trees (stealth, survival, combat) as well as a character specific tree.

Cons:
- Gameplay. Gets. Tedious. By the time I got to Arthur's (1st character) final mission I had planned to then step back and do side missions. But the combat, survival and stealth were so annoying (I was being stealth knockout focused for this char) I just said f*** it and started the finale.
- Then when I got to character 2 (who requires a crafted chemical to knock people out), I had such a hard time getting the resources required to be stealth that I made the STEALTH character into a COMBAT character. What's worse is it worked, besides being a three-shot to every enemy.
- *Character 3 is interesting and had I not spoiled myself on his ending (I didnt know he was a playable character so I googled him) I probably would have enjoyed the final reveal.
- But what the main problem with character 3 is that I discovered MURDER DOESNT F***ING MATTER. I ended up killing every person I saw (becuase Ollie doesnt have a outfit that blends in in the Village, so he's immediately attacked by every wanker on the street) and had no backlash becuase of it. Which made me really ticked becuase I was hoping for something down the lines of Dishonored where pacifist runs netted you a more happy ending, but no, same ending either way.
- Character 2 & 3 both have a character specific mechanic that tries to freshen up the gameplay, this does not accomplish this, and in fact, it convinced me to speed run character 2's part becuase having to return to their house every. day. was agony. Char 3's was admittedly a lot better as the game actually spawned more of the ingredients you need to satisfy the mechanic.
- *The final ending fell a bit flat, probably due to a mix of me wanting to just end the game, the hours of painful gameplay I've put in, and that I already spoiled Ollie's (3's) big reveal. Arthur's epilouge, if you decide to remember (Im not playing the last mission again to see what happens if you forget) does have some nice further closure to his character.

Ok so since this is a positive review, lets start with problems out right now.....because why not.
-Expierences are based on your crew most of the time, try a couple of ships and servers before hating it (this is kinda neutral but whatever)
-Crashes alot (only happened to me twice while clicking the friends tab in server browser but its reported alot in other reviews apparently)
-Server joining is a bit ify, they recommend to join half-full servers and that seems to be working for me
These next two are personal gripes with gameplay and might be diferent apon reading this review (technically they all are but these specifically)
-Muskets need a longer range, its not that its inaccuracy thats bothering me its just my bullet seems to disapeer after
50ft (makes it useless firing from the crows nest)
-Obviously the melee needs work but they always say its WiP so take it with sodium
-Kinda wish the ropes you use to climb friendly ships are there on enemy ships, you cant swim forever anymore so it'd make sense

Now for why this is a positive review......THIS GAME IS EXTREAMLY FUN
-Sound design is amazing
-The game keeps its realistic combat (minus melee but its WiP) with plenty of comedy to make it entertaining and exciting
-The ships handle how a actual sailing ship does (no sail = no turning)
-If you got a crappy captain its easy to mutiny and get a good one
-Ship customization mainly consists of coloring but maybe in the future could be more in-depth (pls let me add a front canon to the sloop :D)
-Boarding mechanics keep you from cross-map boarding as well as the extended respawn time makes you value life
-The climbing in this game is the best, you can obviously climb the rigging but can also walk on the masts of the larger ships which adds more ways of boarding enemy vessels

Ive had this game before steam release and its definately show that this team is willing to work on this game constantly.

Absoluty great idea, this game has a future, and it all depends on how they make the multiplayer. My favorite is the laptop settings
