The shortest summary of this game goes as follows: This classic game makes for a decent game, but not a great entry in the doom series.

There are elements from Doom 1 & 2 that make it's way into the gameplay loop and design of Doom 3, but overall it is much different from what modern audiences see out of the original two games, especially with Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal. Doom 3 is far more horror focused than any other entry of the series, barring maybe Doom 64. Granted, the original two games had horror elements and many moments that were meant to surprise the player or raise great suspense, such as dark halls with a large amount of spectres, or the floor suddenly lowering to reveal a room full of enemies. Even with these elements, both retrospectively and with modern expectations, the classic games offer a more action-packed vibe, with electric guitars and ripoff Alice In Chains MIDIs. So what does Doom 3 offer?

Doom 3 offers scares and suspense. The guns you are given are, quite frankly, weak compared to the bullet sponges you will be fighting during the game, and in this way they contribute to a sense of urgency and helplessness. The story is... present, though a large chunk of the story world building is present through e-mails and voice logs you pick up. Reading through some spooky lore after a particularly stressful fight can be a good way to calm down, but it can quickly feel tedious to get yet another set of e-mails you have to skim through on the off chance there's a code to a nearby locker in it, or let the voice logs play in the background so you can only pay as much attention as is needed to hear the three numbers you need to access lockers. This might feel a bit pessimistic, and I admit that maybe it'll work for you in a way it doesn't for me, but I still personally feel that it can get rather tedious.

Simply, it's still fun. If you want a more action and strategy oriented Doom game, pick up any of the other entries in the series. That isn't to say that this game doesn't have action or strategy, but it is to point out you can find all that in higher qualities by simply searching elsewhere in the series. If you really want to go play Doom but grittier and... well, in a very literal sense, darker, go play Quake.

Pick this game up on a sale, and play the original version, not the BFG Edtion (though I must say that I'm very glad that you get both when you purchase the game.). Even if you don't go through the whole game, it's still fairly worth spending a little time on. The game is dated, sure, you can tell that as soon as you launch the game since you can count the pixels on the splashscreens, but it's nice to go back to a period of time where a bunch of new lighting and physics effects were brand new, and were being flaunted to the fullest, usually as main focuses of the gameplay. The dynamic between having to swap between the flashlight and your other weapons is at times annoying, but also exhilarating, and honestly the game probably wouldn't have been made into a horror game if it weren't for Id wanting to show off their lighting and physics systems. It doesn't come off gimmicky, it feels charming. It holds up a bit today, and it may not hold up forever, but it's Doom 3. It's kinda cheesy and dumb, but it was all still made with a lot of love. Pick it up for a few bucks, get a mod so you can run it on a decent resolution, and just mess around for a bit. Then go back to the original games. GLHF!

My Steam account says I've played for 23 hours but I've played for far longer on a vast number of platforms. PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch, my PHONE. DOOM is a timeless game. Its simplicity was due to limitations at the time but the developers still did everything they could within the boundaries they were held to by the technology of the time, and it is absolutely great.

DOOM and DOOM 2 are both absolutely fantastic. DOOM was one of the first shooters I played, the other being Halo 2. I was born in 2005 so I didn't play it on the platform it released on, but I played it through the Xbox 360 Arcade (R.I.P.) and it has stuck with me ever since. It reminds me of my dad, and sure, I love it for those sentimental reasons, but it has also stuck with me because it is simply a great game. Its style is hard to replicate and its simplicity works in its favor while still allowing for scary and intense moments. It may be old but that doesn't mean that it is incapable of what it set off to do in '93. DOOM has stuck through the years due to it's large modding scene but also just because it is simply an amazing shooter. The fact that it is still getting love to this day, both by the fans and the publisher/developers, is a testament to how timeless DOOM 1 & 2 are. The gameplay and experiences of both are still unmatched, there are better games out there, there are far more complex games, but there isn't any game that is just like DOOM.

Thank you for porting the game again and allowing even more people to experience the game in an even better form. DOSBox isn't for everyone, plus it can be hard to find a good source port and all (btw, GZDoom is best for easy modding and PRBoom is best for a more classic experience and some modding). I'm glad the game that got me into gaming for, so far my whole life, is still getting as much love from others as I give it.

I come from the era of Left 4 Dead 2. I've played the game in and out so many times between my playtime on Xbox 360 and on PC. I feel like I could say that Co-op shooters are some of the most fun you can have with your friends in gaming, so long as you have the right game.

Left 4 Dead 2 is the right game.
Deep Rock Galactic is the right game.
Helldivers 2 is the right game.

Helldivers 2 is a wonderful example of what a co-op shooter should be like. If you like other co-op games/shooters, Helldivers 2 is the right game. I've only played for 39 hours so far but I'm certain I'll continue to play for much longer.

If you're on the fence because you're in need of a new co-op shooter, watch the trailer, and if the vibes hit you right you should buy the game. Don't look up any guides just yet, the first few dives are special. Enjoy figuring things out for yourself. If you have any friends that want to play on extremely hard difficulties, join them. You probably won't regret it. Just dive in.

TL;DR: While buggy at launch, the game has been (mostly, emphasis on most) fixed, which has allowed it's stellar story and gameplay to shine.

I picked up Cyberpunk and its' expansion a few weeks ago. I had past experience of playing a trial (Basically two free hours of gameplay) on my PS5 about a year ago, which lead to me deciding that the story and setting wasn't for me. The story did admittedly seem interesting to me at first, but I hadn't really gotten much further than the tutorial mission when I called it a day and said that I didn't enjoy the game enough to buy it. Despite my previous experience with the game, when I saw it half off in a bundle that included the DLC Expansion I remembered a friend that had said Cyberpunk was one of the best games he had played in recent time. I've yet to play the expansion yet, but I'm on my second playthough after having spent about 20-35 hours on my first character (I might've left the game on a bit here and there so I'm not sure how long I actually took in all honesty).

I may not have had the same negative reaction that others have had with Cyberpunk, but I am still glad that I took a second chance with the game. I heard about all of the horrible bugs that it released with like anyone else and while I still can't get that one intro cutscene of V and Jackie to play completely bug free, I'm very happy with how the game has performed. I, on my 3070 running at 4k using roughly medium settings, experience a very solid frame rate, with the major reoccurring issue being NPCs taking their time to load in high-poly models. If I drive around the city too fast, especially when coming in from the less populated areas, I will tend to see the road disappear (visually, the clipping still exists) below me and take a moment to load back in, but I've never had this be an issue during missions, at the very least. Still, a problem that persists, and is annoying when I'm trying to avoid using the fast travel system.

Speaking of the fast travel system, I found myself not even realizing it existed until about 8 hours into my first playthough. Whether it be the game not telling me or my own ignorance, I completely missed it, and I don't consider this a bad thing whatsoever. Night City is so much fun to explore, even when you're just traveling from point to point. Gawking at the vibrant neon while sliding around on a motorcycle (which is, as I've been told, Akira-esq) is just a wonderful experience.

Whether it be a crash-course for your dramatic chase or the set to an emotional conversation you're having, Night City and it's surroundings are incredibly well crafted. It feels brimming with life and possibilities, and if you choose to explore those route you will be rewarded. I'm not a side quest type of guy, but side-questing and exploring the lives of the characters you meet is fulfilling in both gameplay and story. Cyberpunk is a great singleplayer game in that it is full of both gameplay and story; you feel like you are getting a movie alongside your shooter/RPG.

This is all to say that Cyberpunk has had issues in the past that have been ironed out, for the most part. I could attribute the glitches I've had to my own setup not being quite powerful enough for the settings I've forced it to run, though other people seem to have the same issues at times as well, such as mouths not always moving in conversations. I wouldn't say that you should necessarily "buy at your own risk" as the game is absolutely wonderful and has sparse (albeit repeatable) issues, but I would say that you may want to wait until there is a sale, especially if you aren't absolutely sure that you want to get the game.

If you aren't sure this is your type of game remember you can always easily refund it if you haven't owned it for too long and haven't played it for more than two hours. If you've played it for longer than two hours and you're having issues: Don't forget you can contact support for help with the game or help with refunding the game. Support isn't too lenient with that though sometimes, so just remember to contact a real individual and not go through the automated refund system if you're genuinely having issues.

Believe the rave reviews you've been hearing about this game. This is one of those indie games that steps it's way out of obscurity for a damn good reason. My literal only complaints are that A: you cannot change your key bindings, and B: You cannot play with more than three other people without mods. The mod for adding a higher player count is easy to install and works flawlessly from my own experience and what I've heard so far, and it seems a bit silly to me that the player count hasn't been increased by the devs just yet. I 100% get that this game wont be quite as scary for some people with more people around, but we can't get even two more people? Eight total players can't be done? I wish this was allowed in the main game and a warning would pop up saying that the game isn't balanced around a player count higher than four or something, because playing with one other person or even alone is such an amazing experience in a game that deserves recognition.

You know it's a good game when my main complaint is that I can't play it with more people.

Buy the game, go in blind, and have fun with your friends or some randos. Seriously, you will not regret it even if you aren't typically interested in horror games.

Baldur's Gate 3 feels so unique. It's a game releasing in today's market that is fully polished, heavily loved by its developers, and packed full of content. Baldur's Gate 3 is the game to pick up if you love RPGs, but even if you don't like them, or turn based combat, I still highly recommend it. I personally don't like RPGs much but this game has really gotten me into them.

Editing my review for the steam awards 2024: First thing I bought with my first paycheck. Haven't regretted buying it at all, and I never will. Labor of Love award.

Mood spoilers ahead. I absolutely recommend that you play this game blindly, this is one of the most memorable games I've ever played.

Doki Doki Literature Clubs' ending still gives me this feeling of sadness/remorse for the end of the game, this feeling that there was a happy place that existed that is just gone now where nothing can be done about it, a feeling I'm sure many of us have experienced IRL. The song at the end and the themes it explores impact me personally, and how it builds up to deliver this message is absolutely wonderfully well crafted. I will always remember this game and hope someday I can introduce it to a friend so they can play through it blindly like I did. I wrote this review because the game came up in my thoughts so I clicked on a playthrough and watched some of the most memorable parts, which made me remember how much it impacted me when I first played it, and realize that it still impacts me in the same way today. I don't like visual novels, I don't really like anime, and I feel still that this is an experience that I can come back to and thoroughly enjoy.

Fantastic port with some great new features. Unironically, release all of the other games so I can buy them all. Thank you.

This is a charming hour or so long game based on everyone's favorite quirky Twitch streamer/Nevada-based maniac, Jerma985. That being said, you probably won't enjoy this game very much if you don't watch Jerma. Even still, if you're looking for some quick point and click adventure fun, you may still enjoy this game. Prior knowledge of the Jerma "lore", as it is known, isn't necessary, but it is definitely recommended for a better experience. Recommended for anyone who is a fan of Jerma, especially since it's free.
