If you had a Japanese man make you a grilled cheese sandwich with 100% Japanese ingredients, EDF5 would still be both cheesier and more Japanese.

The best game franchise since Yakuza.

Here's a quick checklist of issues that, hopefully SEGA will see and fix, or else people will see and follow.

- Avoid playing crane games if on a monitor above 60Hz, the crane claw will drop, but not come back up, causing a semi-softlock. You can however go into the options menu, set display mode to "Fullscreen" and then set the refresh rate to 60Hz and that'll fix it, even if you're in the middle of the bug.
- Sometimes after grabbing someone during a battle you'll only be allowed to move left or right perpendicular to the angle you grabbed them, until you let go of the analog stick. Could be a bug to do with higher framerate, I'm not sure.

I can't sing this game's praises enough, so instead I'll just give you facts about this game; in order of importance.

- You can run a real estate company.
- You can hire a chicken to work as a manager at your real estate company. You didn't misread or anything. A real, live chicken.
- You can race slot cars and destroy children's hopes and dreams.
- You can visit karaoke bars and sing to your hearts content. (BREAKIN ZA LAW, BREAKIN ZA WARUDO!)
- You can visit disco clubs and dance to your hearts content.
- You can visit telephone clubs and score dates with ladies.
- You can visit the batting centre to work on your homerun.
- You can play classic era-appropriate Sega arcade games like Out Run, Super Hang On and Space Harrier.
- You can bet on all female wrestling, where the girls will perform heat moves from the other Yakuza games.
- You can play darts, pool, mahjong, cee-lo, and a bunch of other stuff that I bet I've forgotten.
- Plus more that I've intentionally omitted because I have to preserve some of the magic you can only experience by looking at what's happening on screen and STILL not beleiving it. The chicken isn't the strangest thing in here. Not even close.
- LOADS of foreshadowing to events in the other games. For people who've already played the others, you'll have a lot of laughs. "Only an idiot would ever go up against a tiger, unarmed."

Something has changed with the latest update that affects how your character moves around. It's slower and more lethargic.

This greatly affects the game and how it plays, exploring the different planets just feels bad now.

EDIT: They changed it back now. Sometime between when my review was posted and full release.

There's nothing to complain about!
- If you currently have and never intend on upgrading past a 60Hz monitor.
- If you want to support the practice of re-releasing and charging full price for games with minor improvements over the original
- If you haven't played the original (You don't even have a choice on this one anymore!)
- If your main selling point was the added multiplayer slot
- If you don't mind being invaded by cheaters who can and likely will get you banned.

It's actually an inferior product compared to the original with DSFix + DSCM.

Pros:
- It's Dark Souls
- At 60 FPS (Doesn't go any higher though, which you can do with DSFix)
- You don't fall through the ground when you slide down ladders
- Added multiplayer slot
Cons:
- It's just Dark Souls
- This game already came out in 2011

I really don't feel there's enough here to justify a $20, let alone a $40 purchase. Sure, now you no longer have to download DSFix or DSCM - but setting those programs up isn't a huge hassle. You just install DSFix, run DSCM when you wanna co-op; You're set.

No. Those 2 datachunks are basically him saying the same thing in 2 different ways. Why has the game marked them as conflicting? They don't conflict, they correlate. That's the literal opposite of conflicting.

Maybe the message was that Orwell is a bad system that's faulty sometimes? Maybe it got a virus from me visiting the hacked website? Or perhaps, and I think this is most likely, none of the developers thought about it hard enough to realise that the 2 datachunks don't actually conflict.

It seems like a small complaint. But the conflicting datachunks you choose in this game make a big difference.

Much too short for the price.

EDIT: I figure I should elaborate; the puzzles weren't that hard to figure out if you'd played We Were Here. None of them were exceptionally different, at least, it didn't feel that way playing the Lord route. It felt like I played the first game a second time rather than playing the second game for the first time.

SIDENOTE: The marionette is still damned scary when you turn around and see it for the first time lurking behind you.

This is truly the Dark Souls of videogames.

School shootings just got a lot more kawaii.

This review is a warning to anybody buying the game for the mystery element.

The mystery has a major plothole which will stop you from correctly guessing what's going on. The mystery kicks off with Mae and her friends finding a severed arm. The method of killing used by the cult is throwing live sacrifices into a giant hole in a cave. A severed arm doesn't match up with the reveal at all.

I totally recommend the game on it's other aspects, the characters and music are great.

They're coming for the mods again. Get ♥♥♥♥♥♥, Take-Two.
