Last good thing I played from Doublefine. Underated pvp mode. Worth a play for the Campaign craziness and if you are a metal fan.

- To play this game for me personally was a childhood dream come true. It's fulfils that itch of being a wizard.
- Riled up people on social media should not stop you playing this game if you really want to.
- All the complaints I have about this game are minuscule, like the removal of Quidditch.
- Never the less, I think they will probably add Quidditch in DLC, then we will have the complete package!
- So let's go over some of the things I like and the minor inconveniences the game, first the negatives:

- We have all probably noticed, the game lags at higher graphics, even on good systems, why is this?
- Over all my searching, it seems like there is severe memory leak issues with this game.
- More over, there are some backend bugs due to how the source code was implemented into the game.
- Everything you can do to limit this won't fix that, you need Ascendio mod to have a chance to fix it.
- Not sure if this will be fixed in future, but if you are fine with mods, there is at least a good fix for it.

- As for gameplay itself, I wish you could reset talents, also I hope we get an increase in spell variety.
- Really, the gameplay is fine, very fluid, could do with some touch ups in dodge indicators, seen it bug a bit.
- Evil characters wont have THAT much consequences either, like Avada Kedavra is just like saying a swear.

- Not seen much bugs, I did fall through the floor once which was weird, it didn't let me open my map either.
- On top of that, sometimes rolling and climbing are a bit... inconsistent, you can end up in unintended places.
- Take the Witches Tomb, there is a platform you can climb up, only a specific angle.... for some reason...???

- Bugs and weird gameplay aside. They seem fairly minimal, let's talk about the forced "representation":
- Every dialogue option refers to you as "They", I get it's due to 'modern times' but it feels very out of place.
- In some dialogue it just doesn't flow well, it's like they intended the dialogue to have he/him and she/her.
- Now I don't mind if they was an option, but the other two options should also be a thing.
- Guess they wanted to avoid drama from the mob, at that point, was just a futile effort, same with Sirona.

- Kindness and empathy may be the intention of the developers, but it just comes off as pandery after a while.
- I do admit though, these interactions are not that bad and are far between. Doesn't impede the game really.
- Let's talk about the unforgivables: OP, not as OP as you think. You will run Avada Kedevra all the time.
- Learning new spells sometimes is a waste since you wont use them but more variety is always good tbh.
- Every spell has a use but some overlap. I wish the Room of Requirements spells didn't need to be hot barred.
- Difficulty is pretty decent, but you could go through this entire game without being hit once I think.

- Oh also forgot, the stealth system is a bit bare boned but it's also not the worst, needs expanding to be sure.
- Very nearly every situation can be overcame with brute force, there are small required stealth parts tho.
- Even then, these are scripted parts, not something you would naturally use in the open world as much.
- Really... overall, these are BARELY nitpicks at all.

- The combat is excellent and so many combos, load outs and rotations I've seen on youtube.
- Hitting people with certain spells feels so punchy. The fantasy is there for being a truly powerful wizard.
- I personally like to use expelliarmus to disarm opponents then use Magic to throw their weapons at them.
- Sound is also great, every spell has a unique feel and puts you into that fantasy of being a wizard so well.

- Game of the year contender to be sure. Though I suppose it isn't all that revolutionary, it's just plain fun.
- Another open world game, but at least this time, you have a true feeling of fantasy and role play.
- Minus some of the forced dialogue, the script for the game ain't bad, funny moments too with students.
- Every npc seems to have some trigger that makes them say something at certain times or do something.

- To me as well, the characters are great, already seeing people thirst over the Herbology teacher, jeez lmao.
- Overall the charecterization of each house is spot on, I love the clothing, the areas and the students designs.
- Until they allow Quidditch or house points, this can be expanded on, it's mostly cosmetic at the moment.
- Common rooms too look nice, not any customization there, but that is what the room of requirement is for.
- Hufflepuff has the best Jackdaw mission btw, they go to a very well known place in the wizarding world.

- Great game.
- Reccomend to anyone who loves the wizarding world.
- All the things you expect are here, not rocking the boat but what we need right now.
- Salazar.
- Slytherin.

Meh, pretty lackluster.

It's fairly ugly, played it on mobile for a decent amount of time, tried playing it again recently and I remember why I quit.
If you got unlucky in pulling cards, good luck making a coherent deck, since there are so many different factions, most things wont work with each other and the game doesn't give you many good options to catch up in a specific way, no crafting of specific cards, no saving up a currency to buy a deck compilation and they also have this event thing where, you need to win EVERY match to gain rewards, fail once, poof, all gone, may as well restart.

It just seems like they aren't really putting a lot into this game tbh, it feels more like a side project, it's very basic and it has been for years now. It's just a bit boring tbh, especially since what you get in terms of cards is nearly purely RNG and the starting roster of things you can play with is almost purposely boring.

It's a shame too, cause the setting is great, the art is a bit ugly but it does reminisce of the old GW warhammer styles, which might be a huge turn off for people, it hasn't really got that polish you would see in most modern card games.

It really says a lot when some of the top positive reviews say stuff like "It can be a bit boring and tedious, but it can be fun sometimes". I think a lot of people give the game a pass because of the IP, or money spent lmao.

If they maintained the game, updated the UI, give a more targeted way to progress your decks, then maybe worth coming back to, but until then, nah i'll keep waiting for a good Warhammer digital card game.

Very fun.

Like wow, I held off getting this cause I figured it was gonna be another over-hyped "trend" game. But I was so wrong.

I love the setting, art, characters and just the game feels is absolutely AMAZING. Smooth AF.

Instantly put on my faves list.

Every time you spend keys on the gate on level 40, regardless of how well you build your deck and no matter if your deck is consistent in every other game mode:

You will have a brick hand and lose.

Don't ask me how it works, just trust me bro, it's true, say goodbye to thousands of gate keys.

Does not work on Windows 10, even with compatibility. Crashes on startup no matter what you do.

There are "fixes" out there but most wont work if not all.

Valve, remove this game or Radical/Activision patch this broken mess.

Playing this and I can say this:
It could be a classic.....
But it's got a way to go.... it's held back by strange gameplay loop decisions that makes me wonder if this was originally designed as a mobile game.

These things can be changed though, easily.

I recommend it on a surface level that it does what it says on the tin... But I do have a few thoughts:

1. Less grindy missions please. I feel like every mission is the exact same thing, there is no flair. Everything is SOOO SLOW. It feels like this was built from that Evil Genius Mobile game, you get 2 missions for gold, 2 missions for lowering Heat and sometimes get missions to get... more gold... and also to decrease.... tourists? Ok?
The issue is the simplifications of things that adds more hurdles that aren't really fun or engaging, it's just a chore. I don't think i'd mind if THE CRIMINAL NETWORK PASSIVELY INCREASES HEAT FOR JUST EXISTING. I understand but at the same time... when you have a network in every country, then you have things going on in your base, have to check back to the world map to turn do a heat reduction quest before it locks you out.
Also if you were doing a mission that generates 60 heat and you have 100 heat cap, but because of heat generation, you sometimes get locked out MID quest and lose all your minions AND INTEL, meaning you have to wait another... what... 10-20 minutes sometimes to build up intel again. Not fun and not engaging.

2. The Factions different from EG1 but not in a good way, they are more generic and it just feels like they were filling out a map for the sake of having it be there. All the investigators are the exact same skins regardless of faction, each agent really doesn't feel that special and some factions have more areas than others and some factions are changed from the original in ways that don't make sense... You can argue it's because things moved on but that is never really explained so far. Overall... the Factions have lost their soul.

3. I once lost nearly 70 minions to desertion, hearing that damn lady constantly saying they deserted me after 1 super agent attacked whilst investigators were also deciding to just charge in and leave a ton of bodies. For the next 20 minutes it was non stop. So What was the solution? None really, I had staff rooms, I had tons of stuff in the hallways to slow the decrease of moral and I had 10 Incinerators so the body clean up was fast, but once it starts, it just doesn't end until most of your base is abandoned. So what do you do? In Evil Genius 1, you could place them in your cells to cool off, in this game you have cells and LITERAL brainwashing machines.... but nothing works, they just desert you, heck the machine has them desert you but not before lowering their rank to basic minion. The Deserters in this game are soooo much worse than in EG1 and there is nothing you can do but kill them, shame.

4. The greatest pain of this game is that I would not mind a slow game, but this game is slow... but keeps you occupied with so much money and heat juggling that you never really get a chance to just bask in your glory or really edit your base... even though the tools are all there.. you almost cant use them for how much busy work and chore work you have to do so your base doesn't give constantly harassed by agents who are tbh, little more than an annoyance, not engaging, just niggling, always biting at you but never giving you a killing blow, just another case of "ugh I guess I'll just have to recruit more minions, thanks for wasting my money". Again back in EG1, the agents weren't exactly amazing, but you could control for them in such a way that if you don't want too many of them or a consistent conga line of them, you just don't do any heat generating missions on the map. There is too much to distract you from what you really wanna do in this game, which is build your perfect base... I mean the Tech Tree itself is a weird limitation that you would be suprised how limiting it is when you are so many hours in and you can't even reach tier 3 out of 5 yet.

5. Loot, don't place them, no seriously just don't keep them away from your minions, some of them literally DRAIN your minions and do nothing for them. Plus I miss just going out into the world and stealing something instead of these quests that make you do 5 more steps... of the same step.... to get it just for your minions to be too drawn to it and providing no buffs. Loot lost a lot of its luster for me honestly...

6. Why does it take SOOO LONG to do a Scheme? Not just the 30 MINUTE ones (which wow, was this a mobile game?)... I mean why does it take so long for minions to deploy? it's so dumb, in EG1 they would ALL pile into the boat and just go, you could deploy people so fast in the original...

Honestly. I say all this cause I think this game CAN improve vastly with support and the devs might actually listen given how these games float or sink on bringing back that old crowd for more.

I still recommend it, there are also so many improvements, the building, the decorating, there are so many small quality of life features I would KILL FOR for EG1, they really know that you want to build a base.... (I just don't get why they put so much in the way of you doing that effectively), but I say this: Some people may want to wait a couple months, you don't get much done in Evil Genius 2 that quickly. It's such a slow game that I feel it will scare a lot of people away, whilst at the same time being too much of a chore game to give people who like slow tycoon games from enjoying.

I feel like after a few DLC, FreeLC and patches, this game can do some changes, honestly, the game itself is built on a solid base, just a few tweaks to the Global Operations map is all I ask for Rebellion, that map needs to be less of a chore to look at and to use, remove passive heat generation or at least, give a research EARLY ON that combats it, make more schemes that give you loot or... something other than more gold... that you will use to decrease heat and buy minions after they desert you or die in droves against a couple of investigators or cross fire from traps or because you sent a bunch to decrease heat and try to slowly progress the campaign schemes....

Flawed design philosophy, but... again.. built strong, just needs a few major tweaks.

I might change this the more I go through, I was writing positive at first but decided to play for a few more hours and I have changed my tune a bit. I don't regret my purchase, I just feel a bit let down by some of the systems that hold this back from being an amazing classic.

Actually a good little social game. If you wanna make friends and play mini games, make your own little slice of heaven and share videos and use a multitude of skins, this is the game for you.

I hope one day they will develop a VR option or a VR Server cause then, this will explode.
