If you like Starship Troopers, this game is great. Very excited to see where this goes.

For an early access game they've done a really good job. Very excited to see where this goes.

The Good:
The world is quite large, the combat is not bad, the building is good, the enemies are fairly diverse, Repairing is good - if things aren't too damaged it's a free repair; however, if something is significantly damaged or entirely broken you'll need the corresponding materials to fix it.

The Bad:
There really isn't anything bad - I haven't come across any bugs at all, other than actual enemies.

I hate drowning, but that's also my fault since it tells you that you can't swim. Thankfully all of your gear stays on your little grave stone at the edge of the water where you died and you can get all your loot back.

TLDR: if you like survival games like Grounded or Valheim you'll probably like this as well

FULL WARNING: This is honestly one of the worst PC ports I've ever played; however, if you can get it to run correctly it's pretty great on PC with Mouse/keyboard.

I had to do some insane research and testing/troubleshooting to get this game to stop stuttering every 4 seconds. There's an audible glitch/click and the video stutters as well. I'm running a 1080ti + I7 8700K - it should be fine but they did a terrible job optimizing this for a PC port. I'll include what I had to do to get this to run correctly:

1. Update all of your drivers
2. Your PC POWER settings may need to be configured for max performance via control panel - power plan settings
3. IN GAME turn TEXTURES to LOW - textures aren't done the way you normally see in optimized games, putting it on LOW really doesn't change much but by DEFAULT the game tries to use MORE VRAM then you ACTUALLY HAVE IN THE FIRST PLACE - setting TEXTURES to LOW will force the game to use 1GB less of VRAM which should resolve that issue - there's a great YouTube Video from a user called Jo3yization - the title is Horizon Zero Dawn PC Stutter FIX Shortened Version. and it goes into great detail

4. I ended up needing to configure settings via NVIDIA Control panel > open Manage 3D settings > Program Settings Tab > select a program: Horizon Zero Dawn > scroll down to Power management mode - set to PREFER MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE

Doing all of this this mostly resolved the stutter every 4 seconds - it still happens, usually when coming out of a menu or something but you run around and start playing as you normally would and it goes away after a few moments.

I honestly can't believe they did such a poor job optimizing this game. I picked up the Complete Edition on sale and I highly suggest doing the same as I would have returned this had I paid full price.

Can't say enough good things about this game/Dev. Excellent game.

I really like how the combat has blocking/dodging and light/heavy attacks in addition to skills with cooldowns. It's not like other MMO games where it's all skill based w/cooldowns or you click to select and it auto attacks - this you can play a bit more like a souls game and dodge/block + varied attacks. Skill tree system is good and the weapons are cool, you can mix it up and play it however you want. If you're looking for a fun non-subscription MMO, this is it

This game is great fun but you have to accept that you're going to suck initially.
Play the tutorial and make a ton of classes so you can try different play styles.
Try all the weapons and perks. Each weapon plays differently, you have to understand the range and speed to be effective.
Learn to strafe/move just out of reach and counter attack.
Use feints along with all the moves - chamber/riposte/parry/stab/slash - I like dodge personally

Big games will be easier because you're not alone, dueling is where skill really comes into play.

+ Tons of fun with friends.
+ Solo still great, different game modes
++ People will teach you how o play on dueling servers, just say you're new and don't be a jerk.

This game is fantastic.

It's like borderlands meets risk of rain, great art style and gameplay. Great 4 play co-op, very excited to see where this game goes.
