Despite greatly exceeding the recommended specs I could not get the game to hold a steady 60 fps / 1080p even on the lowest settings. After putting it to 720p I could max it out, but my computer still ran hard.

Fine, that aside, it didn't bother me to run it in a lower resolution, it still looked nice - when standing still. But the more I moved around and explored it just felt like everything had a low quality feel to it. The leaves just kind of wobble back and forth in the wind, some trees were semi-transparent like they couldn't decide if they should spawn in or not, fields in the distance had a very low quality texture to them, shadows in the grass drew-in as I approached making it look like grass was spawning right in front of me. It took over an hour to even find my first animal, a deer, and when I did it just stood there looking left, then straight, then left, etc. for the full two minutes I watched it. Not realistic or immersive at all.

This goes on sale for $4 but even at that price the quality feels exceedingly cheap. The binocular view that pops up when you use them, where everything goes into that ∞ overlay, the black mask doesn't completely cover the full screen, leaving a strip at the bottom where you can still see through. Birds and insects flying in the air are like 2D cutouts, not well rendered animals to watch. Species are oddly restricted to certain maps. Like why is the Canada Goose not allowed to spawn on the default Layton Lake map (based on Washington/Oregon)? In real life the skies are filled with them, but in-game the only waterfowl you get there is Mallard. Same thing for other basic animals like the raccoon - it's only in DLC maps despite living everywhere in the Pacific northwest.

In short, the world is very detailed, but simultaneously feels very empty and barren. There is an indescribable jankiness to it I can't properly convey but immediately felt after just a few minutes of walking around. Overall, it wasn't fun to explore. Animals are rare to come across and other than finding an empty cabin or watch tower I didn't see anything interesting to make me want to keep playing. Even without animals to hunt I thought this might still be a relaxing hiking simulator, but the low quality feeling (even on max settings) still kept pulling me out of the experience.

I bought this because the cat has a cute running animation. The rest of the game didn't disappoint. There are dozens of stages, with most having a unique gimmick that adds a slight puzzle element to the game. Each stage has its own boss too. Later levels can be tough, but fair - you can spend currency to revive and brute force your way to victory if you want. Completing it to get the true ending took about 8 hours, but if you want to fully 100% it by getting the three gems in each stage then prepare to put in some work - this is the Dark Souls of cute cat platformers if you go that route.

The level of detail is out of control. SCS has set a new gold standard for what a state should be. Whenever someone asks "I can only afford one DLC, which one should I get?" the answer henceforth shall definitively be: "Texas".

I bought this a week after release in February 2022 and it had some serious issues out of the gate. The online wasn't good, and barely functional. Six months later it just kept getting worse as more and more people left the game, leaving no one online to pair up with in ranked or casual. I would wait 40 minutes on a Saturday night and it couldn't find me a single opponent. So one year ago to the day I gave it a negative review saying to avoid it due to the matchmaking being a ghost town despite the actual fighting mechanics and characters being good.

Finally, a year and a half later, I can at last play this game now that crossplay between PC and Playstation and Xbox players was implemented in June 2023. I usually get a match within 2-5 minutes and the icon tells me I'm getting a fair share of my opponents from console. Even at level 1 connection (the lowest) the game is generally smooth and may have just 2-3 frames of rollback. I've played with my friend 3,000 miles away - him on Playstation 4 wifi, me on wired PC - with 200 ms ping and it was perfectly smooth for both of us. I can now recommend this game if you plan to play it online, though I am still a bit sour it took so long to get to this point. I paid $60 for it new and it sat in my library for 16 months in an unplayable state when it has only just recently become possible to play online and now goes for $10 or so. If you've not picked it up yet get it on sale and it's a pretty good deal and be thankful you dodged the worst era of KoF15.

This is a good state. Most of it is desert but the western part has Yellowstone. You can sit in your truck and watch buffalo eat.

Some very cool paints here. And they'll look even cooler when Florida gets released in 2032.

Boring as hell. Should be called Prison Simulator. I expected more freedom and exploration, but every 2 minutes I'm interrupted and have to stop what I'm doing to report to roll call, report to lunch, report to the showers, etc. Your character walks so slow by the time you get to where you want to go you have 10 seconds to explore before the bell summons you and you have to walk all the way back across the prison again to stand in another roll call. I got this for $3 in a bundle and wish I could refund. Complete waste of time and feels like doing chores.

Finally a game that understands spiders are friends, not foes.

This actually comes with a lot more than I was expecting. I'll list what the contents are since there is no detailed description on the store page. It'll be broken down by category, the asset's name and size, and then my thoughts.

Type 1: Small Commercial:
Drive-in Restaurant - (4 x 4)
Drive-in Oriental Restaurant - (7 x 5)
Oriental Market - (5 x 4)
Noodle Restaurant - (5 x 5)
Ramen Restaurant - (3 x 4)
Service Station and Restaurant - (12 x 13)

These are nice because they come included with large parking lots, so they fit in better with suburban areas where one would expect to have ample parking when visiting a store or restaurant. The last one, service station, is not actually a gas station but a large rectangular building. I guess it's some kind of highway rest stop, but I think of it as a large steak house.

Type 2: Office
Small Office Building - (11 x 4)
City Office Building - (8 x 4)
District Office Building - (10 x 4)
Local Register Office - (8 x 5)

Various types of brown buildings ranging about 4-8 stories tall. Quite nice, and integrate well into any urban center, office park, or as I like to use them for, headquarters for my service sectors, such as being the main building for my water treatment plant, etc.

Type 3: Leisure
Downtown Hotel - (6 x 5)
Resort Hotel - (15 x 9)
The Station Department Store - (15 x 5)
The Rail Yard Shopping Center - (15 x 5)
Temple - (2 x 3)

Specialized tourism buildings, pretty self explanatory. The department store is not actually a "station" nor is the shopping center an actual "rail yard". Both are just large rectangular malls, which again are versatile enough to fit anywhere from suburbs, downtown centers, to recreational districts. The temple is a small pagoda and would work best probably within a park.

Type 4: Skyscrapers
High Rise Office Building - (6 x 4)
Company Headquarters - (10 x 11)
Office Skyscraper - (12 x 9)

Self explanatory, but the latter two are really tall, eclipsing the vanilla skyscraper unique buildings and even the IT specialization from Green Cities. Great looking assets.

Type 5: Services
General Hospital - (9 x 8)
Waste Disposal Unit - (13 x 12)

Both are just Japanese versions of the normal hospital and incinerator, even down to upkeep cost and patient/trash processing rate. Quite nice for some extra visual variety and I'm happy to replace the vanilla incinerator with something much larger and realistic looking.

Overall this is a fantastic pack. A lot of people have noted that these buildings cannot be used as a district style to have them spawn randomly. While that is true, you probably really wouldn't want most of these to repeat a lot. The restaurants take up a lot more space than you expect with their parking lots, and the leisure buildings and skyscrapers are best placed once since they are so specialized. It wouldn't have been a bad idea to have the office types spawn, but their footprint is larger than the maximum 4x4 the game allows for spawns, so it really wouldn't have worked with how the rest of the game is designed. Between the choice of having them as they are now, or shrinking them to fit a 4x4 plot, I'd much prefer them to be large since they stand out a lot more than any generic square office. Having them as one time use unique buildings can be circumvented by getting the mod that lets you place unique assets multiple times.

As far as blending in with the surroundings, aside from some kanji on signs you wouldn't really notice unless you zoomed up close, all the buildings fit in perfectly with my American city theme. Architecturally they match well with all the vanilla buildings so even if you're not aiming for a Japanese style city I'm sure you can find a lot of uses for them that would look natural and aesthetically pleasing.

If REmake is a pizza, this game is like a calzone. Everyone loves pizza, but not as many people would say they like calzones more than pizza, even if they enjoy both. If you haven't played REmake first, go play REmake first, then come play this if you want more of the same kind of flavor, just arranged a bit differently.

Features:
- Graphics looks incredible, way more cleaner and sharper than REmake's, plus they have a lot more animation with curtains blowing in the wind and light and shadows flickering. The intro section with the rain and the train is amazingly good.

- You can drop items from your inventory anywhere and pick them back up again, which not only makes the game more realistic, it makes it less frustrating if all your slots are full and you just need to grab an item for a second to combine it with something else. If you come across an herb or first-aid spray there's an option to just use it on the spot without ever having to truly pick it up.

- No item boxes. A lot of people dislike this, but if you liked REmake enough to play the Real Survivor mode it is basically just that again. In that mode your item boxes were not connected, so you couldn't put ammo in one box, cross the map, and pick the exact same ammo up in a different room's box; you'd have to walk back to the first box to get it. Because of the previous bullet point every room has the potential to function as an item box, so find a room you feel is close and safe and drop unnecessary items there for safe keeping until you return. All items you have interacted with are marked on your map so it's easy to see where everything is.

- A couple items like the shotgun take up two inventory slots. A lot of people are upset about this too, but consider also you get double the characters as a normal RE game to balance it out, actually giving you 12 slots (six per person). You can exchange items between them as long as they are close so I thought item management was pretty convenient.

- Lots of new enemy types. Most of the ones from REmake are back, but there are mostly new ones you will encounter, which is both a pro and a con since they can be annoying to battle sometimes. But it's still nice to have fresh prey.

- Two characters to play as, which you can control independently or have one tag along. This allows the game to invent new types of puzzles you couldn't have in a truly solo RE game. Like for instance a character might have to stay behind in one room to press a switch to open a door for the other character somewhere else. Nothing truly groundbreaking but it's nice to see some new ways to have to think and plan who does what and with what equipment.

- Bonus modes where you scour the map to find color coded leech sculptures to unlock bonus weapons and ammo, and another where Rebecca gets a different partner.

Overall a very solid game. If REmake is a 10/10 (which it is) this is an 8, if not 9. Item boxes would be convenient, I won't lie, but it's easy to adapt to this new system and shouldn't be a reason for neglecting such a great game.
