I'm genuinely angry that I enjoy this game.

I understand why they have to do this, keeping the blood and gore apart from the main game keeps their rating lower. I just wish it didn't come with a price tag, but you do have to pay the people who made the assets and spent time on it. And i am thankful that it's free if you own it on a previous version

It doesn't matter if you like this game or not, because by the time you want to play it again, the devs have once again made significant design choices that change the basic gameplay loop to the point that it's nearly unrecognizable.

It's fairly decent if you ignore some jank and a really obtuse progression system. If you're playing a game of this you better either increase the xp rates or give multiple points per level

A very enjoyable turn-based strategy game that has just enough depth to be fun without losing the mechanics in a soup of other mechanics. Plus the mod community for this game is amazing, they've done everything from importing Dutch van der Linde's voice and likeness into the game, to removing excessive loadtimes and actions, to an entire expansion on the game that makes it a true hellmarch.

7/10 without mods, 9/10 with mods

Has one of the most satisfying and physically impactful melee combat systems I've ever enjoyed in a game like this, and by that I mean if you swing and hit an enemy into a wall with your sledge he'll crack and damage the wall and possibly break through it.

The buildings are also part of the combat, as in you can lure an entire squad of goons inside and then bring the roof down on them. Or if you're fighting on a bridge you can punch a hole in it to drop the vehicle or unit through the bridge.

All in all it's a very enjoyable building demolition game, the story sucks and is 100% predicable but the combat is fun enough to stick with it

There's nothing quite as funny and entertaining as listening to a guy with a deep Boston accent give a speech about killing the mutts on the other side of the river, only for his body to be violently thrown from the hill he's on by a particularly well-aimed cannon shot, totally stopping his speech dead in it's tracks and causing the assembled men to panic.

Genuinely one of the best communities these kinds of games have ever had.

A very tight, very relaxing game of balancing a very tight economy. I'm hoping the devs stick with it for a long time, this has such great potential.
