Really interesting concept! Feels like any battlefield game but with minimalistic graphics. I like what they've done here but battlefield was only really good for the graphics and the atmosphere it set (immersion basically). So if you take the chaotic concept of BF and remove the graphical candy, you're left with just a chaotic game. For the price they're selling it, it's definitely worth a try atleast, it probably runs on some pretty potato configs so it's very accessible but I doubt this game will have much longevity outside of latin america and maybe parts of asia/eastern europe.

Apparently vertical audio is something extraction shooters just can't figure out. I'll flesh out this review down the road but get Tarkov or Hunt instead, this is the kind of game you play a few games of when you're bored of those two. Playing this would just spoil the pleasure you could have playing a better version of it (like playing WarZ back in the day when really it's DayZ you wanted.)

Cool game, the concept is really fun but it needs more polish. I bought it on sale and I still feel like it was expensive for what it offers.

Honestly I tried, I tried really hard to like Deadside. It has some cool things going for it, mainly the gunplay/gunfeel but it has way too many shortcomings and ultimately feels like a game from 10 years ago. There's a clear lack of content, the playerbase is very small and somewhat dedicated, the missions and other events on the map are boring and the NPC's are dumb as rocks. I don't know who this game is for, I would assume EFT or Rust fans looking for something similar but different. Most of the time I found myself wondering why I wasnt playing Tarkov instead, as the FPS view is very clearly inspired by that game. The PVP was fun and the skill level seems pretty low (I've only lost a fight twice in 13h and it was by AR-4 after I killed the first teammate).

I would recommend against buying this if you don't own EFT, DayZ or Rust. Those 3 games offer more diverse and complete experiences with larger playerbases. Other than that, the only reason I can see for getting Deadside would be a monetary one. It's cheap (and it's evident by the fact that the main playerbase speaks russian or spanish). This is quite literally a third world version of DayZ/Tarkov.

It's free and it's fun. What more do you need? Just the fact that one game you can be playing a WW1 trench war and be thrown into vietnam with an M16 in the next is just so fun. 40-100 players in every matches, with somewhat functionnal bots for when the servers aren't full enough. It's a bit big for a free game but it has alot of very fun features that make it a very fun experience. It has full modding with steam workshop support, and from what I can tell this will end up being some kind of GMod/ARMA mix with alot more possibilities for FPS type of gamemodes than Gmod. With the release of S&Box on the horizon, i'm curious as to how that will pan out though.

It's a bit hard to play with friends just because of the sheer scale of the game, I think maybe adding a spawning-on-ally system like BF has could make it better in that regard. It's an amazing solo experience though, you feel like a small cog in the huge machine of war and people are rather friendly on the microphone for an FPS game. I think the fact that there isnt any stats has definitely made it a more laid-back experience and even the most novice of FPS players can have a blast playing this.

Give it a try, it's worth it.

Now that 1.0 is released, I think it's fair to say SotF is a great sequel to the original. Building and crafting feel alot better, new and returning enemy types, larger map, AI companions, winter/summer seasons, cool new equipment and much improved gameplay.

The only major flaw is the HORRENDOUS story, I originally thought I might have missed alot of story elements during my playthrough but it turns out there's just a ton of things that aren't explained like Timmy's presence (with the CIA?), the mysterious spacemen, why you need the bathtub and the suit to unlock the arm door, why the chinese guy is the final boss and the list goes on. I don't even feel bad about spoiling it because it's just that bad.

Just like the original, SotF is a great coop horror-ish game but that niche has been alot more popular since The Forest came out so unless you're looking for a survival coop game i'd look elsewhere.

Early Access: Lots of things have been improved from the original but alot has been cut out as well. The story from all accounts is nonsense and other than the crafting/building and the slightly better AI, the sequel to The Forest is weaker in almost every regard. The world is empty, you have little direction and the combat feels almost worse than the orignal. I have high hopes that this early access period will allow them to come back on alot of these things and release something more complete. I will update the review when the game fully releases.

Best Mass Effect in the series, the right balance between RPG and shooter (the first focusing too much on the first, and the 3rd too much on the latter

probably better to get the remake though!

Cool game

Decent sequel to Subnautica but I feel like they focused on the wrong things in Below Zero. First of all, the land bits are too numerous. I always feel like it was tacked on to add extra layers to the world in the first one and since they reused the same engine it's sad to see almost a third of the game happen on land when water is what brings people in for Subnautica. The story is... weird. It's hard to follow and I feel like the flow comes much more naturally in the first game. Otherwise everything else is just like the first one, with more fleshed out biomes and more equipment. The seatruck was an interesting feature, the ability to choose how you modify it makes for alot of fun!

I would recommend this only to people who've played the first game. It's the better Subnautica experience and this is mostly only nice as an continuation of the first.
