Adding DRM 15 years after release, 9 years after switching to Steamworks? LFG

Avoid for now.

The game has intrigued me since the first trailer was released in 2017; finally, a modern successor to SWAT 4, featuring heavy themes like school shootings, human trafficking and so on... what started out as hype turned into an absolute shítshow of a waiting game with absolute radio silence from the developers. There were two choices: either shell out 120 bucks for the Supporter Edition to get exclusive access to the pre-alpha build, or wait for the VOID overlords to drop any morsel of information to their peasant fan base aside from a few seconds of footage every now and then.

But this was only the first of many red flags; instead of the SWAT 4 successor people were hoping for, the supporters got a PVP only build - only after community outcry they went back to drawing board to deliver what people had been asking for all along. The next carrot on a stick was the 8-minute-long gameplay trailer; weeks turned into months with the developers pushing the release further and further back; "it'll be released soon(tm), trust us bro". Well, it DID release at some point - 2 years after the teaser trailer, but frankly, it looked great. Meaty, satisfying gun play, interesting gameplay systems. But the actual (early access) release was another 2 years away.

There it was, and...it looked nothing like the mystical trailer had made it out to be; none of the content they had showed off so far was in the game - at least not in the form it was shown off previously. Another habit of VOID is the constant removal or reworking of existing content (there have been like 3 or 4 complete reworks of several maps), something they continued during the early access period. Weapons which were available in the PVP build or shown in the gameplay trailer were left in the game files to rot (only to be added as "new" free weapons with their paid DLC), WIP Maps were added for testing and later removed with nothing to replace them - not to mention the state the AI was in at launch. The 1.0 release even removed basically finished content from the early access release (i.e. M32 GL and the "Checkin' In" mission) plus the ability to choose different game modes for each mission - another baffling decision which hasn't been fully explained to this day.

The newest controversy is the modification of several assets to adhere to Sony's and/or Microsoft's policies in preparation of the upcoming console release. While I for the most part don't care about the actual changes they're making, since they mainly affect background assets you look at for a few seconds, then move on with your business, I'm not a fan of this practice nor do I support censorship of the game on my platform of choice to support the release on another. The proposed changes are especially ridiculous in light of the subjects they're related to (why leave trafficking victims in their undies, might as well give them a full change of clothes) or in comparison to other games featuring similar content - i.e. Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last of Us 2 featuring post-mortem dismemberment far more graphic than Ready or Not.

To put it short: I do have my issues with this game, but it scratches an itch few games get right. I do hope VOID change their stance on this matter - while it may not be the most pressing issue in the grand scheme of things, there's only so much goodwill you can expect from your community; and I feel that VOID has exhausted that over the years.

This is one of the most engaging titles I have played in recent years. Feeding Frenzy 2: Shipwreck Showdown Deluxe™ is one of the last old-school classics, and every modern game should try to learn from the greatness of this title.

From the astounding, vivid, almost LIFELIKE visuals which really capture the feeling of a deep sea aquatic adventure, to the dynamic, orchestral soundtrack which supplements the gameplay extremely well; this game is as close to perfection as one can get. But Feeding Frenzy 2: Shipwreck Showdown Deluxe™ is more than a game; it is a critique towards the human condition in the 21st Century. The world order in Feeding Frenzy 2: Shipwreck Showdown Deluxe™ is eat, or be eaten; much like it is in our society.

Personally, I think this game should be remastered with modern technology, to give the developers the possibility to fully realize their vision for this groundbreaking game, which was not possible at the time of it´s release. Just imagine this: Feeding Frenzy 3. With even better visuals, Oculus Rift Support, and a multiplayer to fully capture the Online market. I have a dream. And this dream is Feeding Frenzy.

Dead Island could have been the best zombie game ever. At least back in 2008. Techland changed the story from a father who tries to find his family to a 4 player coop fragfest. While the combat is still excellent, the RPG elements á la Diablo or Borderlands (as much as I hate it, this is the best fitting comparison) actually ruin the experience. Guns don´t do as much damage as they should, BECAUSE THEY HAVE A LEVEL. Same with melee weapons. Let´s say you get a sword at level 30. A few hours later you find a lead pipe with more base damage; because the ♥♥♥♥ is leveled as well! If they had to implement skills and such, they could have used basic stuff like Strenght, Endurance etc. The result is a flawed, but good coop game for the first few playthroughs, that could have used a bit more polish. The quests just get way too repetitive after a while, unfortunately. Dead Island could have used gameplay similar to DayZ: just try to stay alive, because the story is nothing special. I hope Techland fixes these issues in the sequel (no, not Riptide.). Still, this is a nice game for you and your buddies, that will make you forget time more than once. 8/10

Why, OH GOD WHY UBISOFT?! You had ONE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ job! They took the things that made Far Cry unique (smart AI, huge levels, optional stealth) and made them worse in every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way possible. The only smart thing the AI does is walking up to wounded teammates, even if they are lying in the middle of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fire. Next, the huge levels became even bigger; and guess what? In each mission you have to drive from one corner of the map to the next. Joy. The AI? Stealth is almost impossible. You walk up to a guard with your machete in your hand, you get ready to kill him with one hit aaand...he falls to the ground and screams for his teammates. Even if you kill him with a silenced weapon, half of the camp magically knows where you are and starts shooting like its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Michael Bay movie. Combine this with constantly respawning enemies, and a interesting, but flawed pseudo-"Heart of Darkness"-esque Story, and you get one of the most disappointing sequels of the past years. 6/10

Moriarte: Ignoring IW.net, is the PC version a direct port of the console version?

Mackey-IW: No, PC has custom stuff like mouse control, text chat in game, and graphics settings.
