Yeah, EA is pretty notorious for messing games up... Ubisoft is the same in a lot of ways. They're both divided into lots of smaller teams, and each team only has a specific part of the game that they work on. Then they simply piece all of the different teams' work together near the very end - The end result is a game that resembles Frankenstein's monster. Assassin's Creed 3 was a good example - Many developers didn't know anything about the game other than their very specific task, so it was impossible for them to coordinate the puzzle pieces into a cohesive game.
