Things you do in this game:
1 - Play as a mostly-robotic badass named Sergeant Rex Power Colt
2 - Attack a heavily-guarded fortress with a chopper-mounted HMG.
3 - Throw neon shurikens at cyborg soldiers.
4 - Reload a shotgun by THROWING SHELLS INTO THE MAGAZINE/BARREL.
5 - Rip out the beating cyborg hearts of soldiers.
6 - Throw said hearts at neon DRAGONS.
7 - Watch as said dragons fry everybody in their way to get at said hearts.
8 - Use a gun that is almost exactly the same as the gun that Robocop uses.
9 - Use a bow that shoots NEON arrows.
10 - Upgrade the game's equivelant of a standard rifle (named the Fazertron, in case you were wondering) into a lazer-shooting death cannon.
11 - Strap a tiny death triangle to your wrist that may give you EYE HERPES.
12 - Throw a rave! The whole game is an endless rave! THE RAVE NEVER ENDS! ALL ABOARD THE RAVE TRAIN!
13 - Why are you still sitting there? I see you haven't bought the game yet. If you haven't, re-read points 1 to 13 again.

Initally, I wasn't sure what to think of this game. Everything seemed to be stolen from other games, crafting from Minecraft, house building from Rust, zombie survival from DayZ - I felt like Unturned was simply a mashup of different mechanics.

Play it with friends and you see the true form of Unturned.

Me and one of my friends had set up a temporary base in a small town, with the door barricaded and all of the items we couldn't carry lying in the upstairs rooms. We cleared out the town and lived there quite happily until he was killed by a stray zombillybob who had spotted us when we weren't looking, and I died of disease whilest trying to prevent death by starvation. Respawning at a nearby army base, we proceeded to clear it out, after dealing with some inital issues (trapped in a guard tower surrounded by zombies with only a land mine for company) that held us back. Eventually, we managed to reach the town again, only to find our claimed house overrun by a small horde of zombies.

Once we cleared the house for the second time in a few hours, we began to find more and more valuble equipment - sights, ammo clips, and even a supressor or two. Body armour was literally a few houses away, and we had enough canned food to survive for a long, long time. This is when I realised the true point of the game, as well as the aspect I liked most: before we played this game, me and my friend had mainly been competitive with one another on games such as Team Fortress 2 or Payday, but we finally had a chance to work together for a purpose, kind of like bonding exercises that some parents have with their children. There's also an element of decepton - if you find a powerful or rare item, telling somebody will risk them asking, begging or even fighting for it, which forces you to keep quiet about what you are carrying, even if you really want to show it off to everybody.

However, not everything is perfect - there are a few hit detection issues with crawling zombies, and it took a little while (but only about 5-10 minutes) to set up a private server via hamatchi. The odd thing - NO LAG. AT ALL. Not once did either of us suffer a frame drop or lag spike, even in areas where there were many objects for the game to render. Granted, I was playing on quite low settings, but that barely impacts on the game at all - lighting is the only thinig you really need to turn on to make the game seem better, everything else isn't as notable.

Overall, Unturned is one of the BEST games I have played on Steam - it runs on almost every computer, it's a mix of exploration and construction that I've been dying for, it's great for "bonding" with friends that you normally don't work with, and there's even a non-zombie construction mode if you wish to simply build a gigantic mansion. For at least a year I was longing for a certain game that fitted certain criteria, but I didn't quite know if such a game existed - Unturned is that game.

So, I jumped back into ZPS after roughly two-and-a-half years of owning the game without playing it. Along with one of my friends, I joined a custom server running a custom map, but no other mods. Within five minutes, two other people had joined, making a total of four on the server - not ideal, since we were planning on inviting one of our other friends for a three player match, but we had no ways of creating a private server at the time, and "what could possibly go wrong?".

One of these people was friendly, complimenting us after each kill and/or match, whereas the other was a racist ten-year-old that I presume was Russian (he could speak English, but not very well). He barricaded himself inside a house using indestructable objects, wedged himself INSIDE said objects to prevent us from entering, and proceeded to taunt us, calling us many things that I frankly would not want to hear when playing a game for a night of fun. We only managed to win due to the infectious properties of the Alpha Zombie (whom I was playing at the time) combined with a lucky hit, at which point he proceeded to shout/talk loudly over the mic (I had the in-game mic off already, but my friend had to turn it off in order to continue playing without being distracted).

I know that this doesn't sum up the whole community, but this experience put me off the game for at least two-and-a-half more years. Thanks, kid, I appreciate it.

Similar to the popular Ipad game The Respawnables, with cartoon graphics and enough customisation to warrant at least a few hours play. The whole game, much like mobile Free To Play games, depends on how patient you are: you can buy boosters with real money, but each match gives you a solid amount of experience even if you don't win. Since it's close to launch day, there are some problems with the online servers, but the offline weapon testing is fun to play for a while, as you can use any combinations of weapon parts together without actually having to buy them first (but, obviously, you can't use them in matches).

Even though the character customisation options all require real money (the weapon customisation doesn't), the developers have to make money somehow, and these entirely optional items are a good way of doing so. The provide no bonuses or boosts, they are simply cosmetic.

My only problem with the game is the unlockable weapon parts: if you buy an extended magazine for the assault rifle, you can only use it on the weapon you were editing when you bought it. However, the offline testing makes it easy to see if it's worth getting a duplicate weapon part for another weapon.

Overall, this game is unique - you never know what you will be up against, as any player can construct many, many different combinations of weapon. Either create something adaptable or something powerful, or just make the coolest-looking weapon you can.
