You see those screenshots up there? Next to the description of the game? Take a look at that last one, pay close attention to it. Take in every detail, every aspect, of that screenshot.

THAT'S NOT EVEN IN THE MOD.

The problem with Half-Life: Before is that it's just too short. FAR too short. As in "I finished the game before I finished my drink" short. As far as I can remember, there is only ONE level change in the entire game, and that level change is only there to trap the player in the (frankly terrible) boss fight. Worse still, barring the aforementioned boss fight, you literally have to do a u-turn and retrace your steps ALL THE WAY TO THE STARTING POINT.

The story of the game is also quite poorly thought out, as little as there is, which makes the whole thing seem like just an extra level that was cut from the original game. Despite the steam page stating that "You're playing as a Black Mesa scientist Andrew Winner.", this is NEVER brought up in-game, and you could just as easily be Lord-High Sherrif Mafia-Don Charlie McFidget Pickle-Eyes VII and it would make NO difference whatsoever. Also, you never have to "enter another world to find an artifact", unless the developers consider "another world" to be the tiny, enclosed cargo deck of a ship.

This feels like a demo - a tech demo, even - for something bigger that was never quite finished. While HL:B has polish, there's a difference between polishing a gigantic statue and polishing a tiny fork.
