I found this game browsing for Horror at 1AM, and immediately bought it upon reading a few reviews and the description. This is quite honestly one of the most fantastic horror games I've ever played. The environmental design is phenomenal, the storytelling and voiceacting on point, and it makes you genuinely feel like you're in the thick of it. I cannot recommend this game enough, and it deserves so much more recognition than it has.

Got this game for my birthday last year, right as it was coming out. I was super hyped, it looked amazing. Admittedly I wasn't big on Bethesda games before this point(Fallout and Elder Scrolls both) but I was willing to give this a go because the shipbuilding and exploration were exactly what I was wanting in a game. The first 10 or so hours were amazing, the environments were beautiful and the shipbuilding great, space combat was a little iffy because of how leveling and accessibility to parts worked, but I could deal. Hours 11-20 got boring really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ quick, and I started to realize how poorly thought out the game really was. Extremely formulaic, with more loading screens than you could shake a stick at, and most of the 'explorable environments' were barren wastelands with the same six landmarks laid out at varying distances from your landing point. Hours 21-41 were an absolutely horrid drag, and I ended up uninstalling the game when the main story did a complete about face and decided to give me space wizard powers. In that one sequence, it went from a disappointing but potential filled game to an absolute trainwreck of poor writing and outdated design. If you buy this game, be warned that you should come into it expecting gunplay from Fallout without aim assist, magic from skyrim, and space combat without enemies(they run away from you once you hit a certain experience level).

As an aside, this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing, and not even literally. The story is intriguing, the characters have depth, and there's secrets and quests to find in every corner of the Frostmarches. Go, adventurer, discover forgotten treasures and build up your consensual harem.

It's... Well, it's Stellaris with a new coat of paint. That's really all there is to it, honestly. If you have Stellaris already, it's probably not worth the money, just go and download the Star Trek conversion mod for that. But if you're new to this type of game, it's not a bad way to get into it. Certainly cheaper than picking up Stellaris with all its DLCs. I have a couple nitpicks, but it's really nothing too major. Definitely needs more balancing patches in the future(I've had more trouble with pirates, PIRATES, than I did with the Borg, and the questline to deal with them as a threat is pathetically easy to complete, at least on the Federation side of things.) but the Devs seem fairly active and they /are/ addressing peoples concerns. (They completely rebalanced the Enterprise with the last patch, making it more reflective of it's actual performance instead of the bomb-boat it had been.)

I really, REALLY, wanted to love this game. It was everything that I'd ever wanted out of a SW flight-sim. It had customization for your ships, fantastic modeling for said ships, and a pretty good overall balance setup (On launch, from what I hear that's different these days). The story mode was...okay. Characters didn't really have enough screen time to get attached to them, and the split Rebel/Empire story made it so you struggled a bit to keep things straight, but it was entertaining enough. The problem is the game is pretty much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dead. No one plays the PvP, and I'm pretty sure EA ditched the game almost immediately. We'll never see a DLC story expansion, no new ships or weapons, nothing. If you want to play this for the story? Find yourself a free copy somewhere, cause this ain't worth $40 anymore.

I have never played a Souls-like before, and if I'm being honest I was VERY nervous when this game was gifted to me for christmas. Despite that, I was eager to try my first open-world since Horizon: Zero Dawn and this has not disappointed. My butt has been kicked hard enough to visit the moon, but I keep coming back for more simply because the combat is, while tough, fun and rewarding, and the environmental storytelling is fantastic. Exploring the ruins of a collapsed civilization and fighting dragons and zombies while I do it? Yes please!

EDIT: Coming back to this with another 110 hours in game (No, I don't have a problem, I'm sure I don't know what you mean.) and if anything it's just solidified how much I love this game. I've beaten it once and I'm working my way through a second time, AND I'M STILL DISCOVERING NEW THINGS. Seriously, there's so much to explore it's absurd. I've played by myself, with friends (Seamless Coop works really well, if you want to experience the whole adventure with a friend or three), and even with my dad. Having the chance to experiment with basically any build I want is a luxury I've found few other places, There's really funny builds (running around practically naked with a massive hammer), there's really capable builds (Greatshields are great, don't @ me), and there's really scummy builds (Rotting breath go brrr....er, whoosh?), and the sheer diversity of weapons and armor is insane. The amount of work the Devs put into this game is incredible, and I CANNOT wait for the DLC.

Game is...interesting. For those coming to this from Wargame or WARNO, be prepared for a lot of differences in terms of combat mechanics. I think it's good so far, but(at least for me) the game is horribly optimized. I have a fairly well off gaming computer and I'm getting almost non-stop stuttering even on medium or low graphical settings. The mechanics are interesting, the UI is robust and not overwhelming, but there's definitely room for improvement in terms of balancing, especially with how useless recon units feel.

I have 2500 hours on steam and at least another thousand via the independent launcher. This game *used* to be fun and at least somewhat balanced, but that's no longer the case at all. Gaijin as a company does not care about game balance nor fluid and stable gameplay anymore, The only focus is on putting out the next Meta Premium Vehicle and catering to the German and Russian players.
