Yeah, Fang and Naser's argument and then Naomi's moment on the beach seemed like they came out of nowhere to me as well. Fang gets angry, Naser tries to explain his actions, then Fang goes straight for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ throat and makes it personal as hell, making fun of him for not knowing his future or whatever it was, and then it doesn't really come up again. I can see Fang losing it and not thinking clearly because she's quite frankly obsessed with the BotB, but what she said wasn't out of anger, it was downright, pure malice.
Naomi gets upset, people try to say that it is what it is and there's nothing they can do, then Naomi goes straight for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ throat and directly insults every person there for having accepted their places in the world, and then they all get mad at Fang for telling her to ♥♥♥♥ off, and it's suddenly all Fang's problem, and then it's immediately resolved and Fang holds hands with her or whatever.
I can kind of see this as the awkward level-headed character finally losing their cool at the height of tensions, and I can almost kind of see it as high schoolers being themselves, but it just comes off as clumsy and is resolved immediately anyway.
None of the interpersonal drama has any stakes because it's all resolved in a way that benefits Fang first and everyone else second. Trish says she wants to spend more of her free time doing things that don't involve Fang, goes off to do exactly that, then comes back the very next scene doing exactly what Fang wants to do, like they never had this huge falling out moment that was so emotionally overwhelming she couldn't even accept Naomi's advances. What happened to the whole "I'm tired of chasing your dreams" spiel? It's just bizarre.
