WARNING I'm not the best writer so sorry. This review is focused primarily on the Lightfall campaign, the Neomuna location, and the QOL changes. I will NOT be covering anything on seasonal experience in-detail. This review reflects my experiences with the entire Lightfall release, so things like the QOL changes that aren't technically from the DLC, are included here.

---TL:DR--- 7/10
Although Destiny 2: Lightfall was held back by its confusing narrative, the overall experience is up there with some of my favorite Destiny 2 experiences. As a hunter main, the Legendary campaign out-shined the experience I had in Witch Queen. The numerous quality of life changes helped the expansion greatly, with solid seasonal content as well. I put it at 7/10 (would be 9/10 if not for the narrative). In terms of ranking with the other expansion, this is where I would put it:

  1. Forsaken
  2. Witch Queen
  3. Lightfall
  4. Beyond Light
  5. Warmind
  6. Shadowkeep
  7. Curse

---NARRATIVE--- 4/10
The Lightfall campaign has some of the weakest storytelling of my Destiny experience so far, and it's my biggest disappointment about the DLC. I'm love the lore of Destiny, but I found myself really confused on what the Veil & Radial Mast are. It's really difficult to get interested and engaged with the story if the narrative doesn't give weight to our goals/decisions. The only reason why this score isn't a 2/10 is because of the after-campaign narrative experience. I found myself more interested in the lore & story in those missions/dialogues than what was found throughout the campaign.

As for the Cloudstriders, I thought they were great! I found myself laughing at a few of the moments with Nimbus, and intrigued by the more serious moments with Rohan. Though, I do feel that they missed the delivery of these characters a bit. I wasn't as connected with Rohan as I believe Bungie's narrative team desired me to be, especially when he sacrificed himself to destroy the Radial Mast. Nimbus also had some ill-timed jokes, 4/10 for me.

---STRAND--- 10/10
Strand is fun. as. hell, and my Lightfall experience was empowered by this subclass. Being able to swing around a new destination, raining grenades and rockets onto enemies while hitting an enemy with my empowered melee is so fun! I felt that the subclass and it's details were much more easier to approach than stasis was and the process to unlock the class is MUCH better than how Stasis was in Beyond Light. I enjoyed slowly getting more and more accustomed to the subclass and it's interactions with enemies over the campaign. The "Headlong" mission, although cheesy in it's "training montage" narrative, was really fun and the time trial after the campaign really put my skills with it to the test! I felt that once I finished the campaign, I understood the subclass much more than I did with Stasis after Beyond Light. Also, BIG points to Bungie for listening to the feedback and removing the time-gates for the fragments. 10/10 for me!

---LEGENDARY CAMPAIGN--- 9/10
(FYI, I played the campaign as a SOLO HUNTER on Void) Compared to the Legendary campaign in Witch Queen, the Lightfall legendary campaign experience felt much more balanced and entertaining than it's predecessor (outside of the final fight, screw that it was so hard). Narrative aside, I enjoyed the variety of mission types/difficulties I had over the campaign. It felt nice to take a break after the harder missions to explore Neomuna and learn more about the destination through the campaign. There were some issues I encountered, such as dying OVER AND OVER to that STUPID tunnel thing in Calus' ship, but those issues were far out shined by the better moments of the campaign. I commend Bungie for creating an interesting and fun experience for players to enjoy, and I look forward to (hopefully) the after-raid unlocks!! 9/10 from me!

---UPDATES AND OVERHAULS--- 8/10
With the release of Lightfall came numerous quality of life changes and overhauls. The new Load out system, build-crafting menu, and the champion overhaul are some of the best gameplay related changes we've received outside of Arc/Solar/Void 3.0. I would give these changes a solid 10/10 ALONE, however my overall ranking is being held back by some of the other additions.

Guardian Ranks are (conceptually) a fantastic idea. Being able to identify where a guardian is in their Destiny experience is much better than a pointless season pass rank. I feel as a leader that I can identify where stronger/weaker points in a fireteam are, and more appropriately place them in raids/harder activities. However, their current iteration does NOT reflect this. I hate to say this, but being immediately placed at level 6 (currently at 1200-ish hours with raids done) feels insulting and confusing when another guardian (who only just started a few weeks ago) is also the same rank as me. If they changed the seasonal challenges to life-time challenges, I feel that would more accurately reflect where a guardian is in their journey. Right now, being level 6 feels like level 1 when EVERYONE is level 6. Overall, I give it a 8/10 (would be 10/10 if changed).

Note: As for the commendation system, I really don't have that much of an opinion of it so I cant really rank it. It just kinda exists IMO.

---NEOMUNA--- 7/10
Although Neomuna isn't my favorite destination in the Destiny universe, I can see the work and effort that was poured into this destination and it's design. The visuals are great, and really give a futuristic cyber-wave vibe to it. Each patrol area feels unique and different from each other, and Lightfall really went over the top with the whole patrol experience IMO. The Terminal Overload events is a cool public event with great rewards, and really challenges everyone in your instance. I also really enjoy the Vex Strike Force events, as getting that guaranteed exotic feels great! Although we only got 1 playlist strike with Lightfall, the destination made up for it with great lost sectors. They're AWESOME, and feel like mini-strikes with lore and solid length.

My biggest issues with the destination are with how EMPTY the place feels and the copy-paste public events. Outside of the Terminal Overload and Vex Strike Force events, I don't like that the public events are pretty much copy-paste from other destinations. Witch Queen introduced new public events, and I would have enjoyed seeing some new ones as well. I know that the citizens of Neomuna are in the Cloudnet, but MAN it would have been really awesome to see how populated the space could get. I hope to see those spaces become more utilized over the next year. The city is also unusually dust-free for basically having nobody in it lol, 7/10 for me!

... and that's it! I'd love to hear what you all think (especially with how the community is at the moment). I look forward to that post day-1 raid experience!

Overall: Counter-Strike : Global Offensive is a competitive FPS 5v5 game that overall is a great game. It may not be as legendary as the original Counter-Strike, but this game is a great one for this current generation of gaming. It may have it flaws, but there are many great reasons why it is one of the leading games in the eSports Scene.
