This is definitely my new favourite Co-Op (or Co-lab-or-ation) game.

Here's just some of the reasons:

- Stunning Visuals

From the little added details of ants crawling up a tree to the scaling up looming pillow towers and gorgeous character designs that reflect their personalities, this game looks so beautiful.

- Well thought out characters and plot

The characters develop as people, they have their own beliefs and values. The plot really shows character development and it's so clever in how naturally it does so.

- So much variety in gameplay

You're never 'levelling up', but you don't care; You'll get cool new abilities sometimes, different bosses, puzzles, minigames and styles, even switching between genres stylistically. It does this so seamlessly that it still feels cohesive, but it's never the same thing twice, it's never boring.

- Destroying children's toys

Honestly, I do feel a bit guilty about this one.

- Friend pass is fantastic

The fact that only one of you needs to have this game is great. It makes the dent of cost a little easier to manage and is part of the reason I could convince my partner to play.

- Turning your partner into an acorn and more fun torture

I'm not sorry about this one.

- Very funny / The voice acting is superb

The bickering between the two player characters; May and Cody is fantastic, the banter that you and whoever you play with will have based on it is also fantastic. Dr Hakim and some of the other side characters have such fantastic lines or those lines are executed perfectly by the voice actors that you cant help but smile. The voice actors were perfectly chosen and the dialogue is so natural and brilliant.

- Promotes the value of bees to human society

Bees ARE special.

- No grinding (except on rails)

I personally cant stand feeling like I'm grinding all the time to get through a game, this one isn't like that.

- Highly immersive

For every reason listed above and more.

I'd love to see sequels to this - Different couples, friend groups, or even siblings working through their stories and their worlds. More cute character designs, more Dr Hakim's. Even sequential stories - Like Rose and her best friend or future partner. Games like this deserve sequels, it's so full of soul, so full of life, there are so many reasons to connect to characters and story. For now, I'm glad we got even this.

My only regret is that my partner played Cody and I played May (I know you can choose who you want to play every time you re-launch the game, but that felt weird once we had started, and we wanted to keep track of minigame points), Our personalities were very much suited to the opposite character.

The only other downside is that I don't love the over-simplification of divorce, but it's just a game that can't cover all the nuances and the wholesomeness of the story overall more than makes up for it.

This game is worth every cent, if you've got it sitting in your wishlist, this is the sign you're waiting on to move it to your cart and purchase it.
If it's not in your wishlist, don't move it there, add it straight to your cart!
