Everything that wasn't already near-perfect in XCom: Enemy Within has been greatly improved in this game. The new setting gives the franchise a fresh wind of change and additions like looting enemies for supplies you can't get otherwise are beautifully integrated in the already existing framework of the game.
The extensive Modsupport gives this game considerable longevity. Nothing is outside the Realm of possibilities, and I can't wait for XCOM 2's Long War mod!

At the start of the game, it had numerous performance issues and glitches. After 2 patches my game now runs smoothly on about 55-70 FPS on minimum settings. If my PC wasn't so dated AND running a three-year-old windows 7, I could probably get a lot higher.
My guess is that 2k forced Firaxis to push the game out on a strict release date and that there was no proper playtesting done for the official release build. That is a terrible practice. Luckily the biggest flaws have been patched out by now.

This game is a challenger for the throne of Turn-Based Strategy Games, and, excluding "Long War", the best XCOM since UFO Defense. Must-buy for every TBS-Fan with a powerful PC!

My Specs for reference:

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition (4 x 3,4 GHz, no hyperthreading)
AMD Radeon HD7850 (2 GB GDDR5)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
