For some people the more a video game tortures you, the more rewarding it is when you succeed, provided you can take what it dishes out. If you're that type of gamer this is a game you will love, because there is no shortage of torture in store for you in Outward.

That said, i really enjoy this game!

- Great enemy variety, if you were disappointed by the enemy variety in games like Breath of the Wild, you will be happy to find all kinds of weird ass things to fight in this game.
- Good visuals (mostly), there are some rough spots but personally I love the look and feel of the world generally speaking. It has a bit of a dream world vibe going for it. Almost reminiscent of like Myst or Riven. Character face models stand out as a big miss, and I encountered a strange amount of seams on the ground that are just a tad immersion breaking, everything else is good or good enough visually imo.
- The quests are decent, they're not insanely deep usually, but the structure is a good option sometimes. Like a hypothetical sandbox Outward with no quests would be a much worse game I think, despite most of the fun of the game coming from it's sandbox elements.
- The difficulty. Outward is obviously a hard game, but it's also quite cheese-able if you know how. One of the main reasons for this is the crafting system, normally as a new player you are meant to learn crafting recipes very slowly by buying them from shops or finding them in the world. But interestingly no crafting recipes are ever locked, hypothetically if you knew them, or googled them, you can still use them without obtaining the recipe by normal means. This means it's possible for a new player to google certain crafting recipes, cheese a few specific mobs, and craft strong weapons very early. So it's a weird balance where the game can be super brutal if you're not looking anything up, or you can watch a youtube video where a guy tells you exactly where to go and what to do and you'll have it comparatively much much easier in a way I don't know if the devs were really intending.

Spiral knights to me, is one of the best games ever made. The biggest drawback it has is that it was never able to live up to it's potential, and other people seem not to notice it's value.

The game is amazingly unique while simultaneously not feeling clunky by being alternative. I adore it's art style, it's music, it's atmosphere. I love everything about it.

Spiral knights deserves so much more than what reality gave to it. It's so much better than so many games that were so much more successful than it was.

Spiral knights doesn't have a growing community, but if you're thinking about playing it I'd 100% recommend giving it a go. There's still a small community playing this game, it's not too hard to find people to play with at endgame.

This is the whole package.

The best multiplayer fps to date in my opinion. It has depth, it's dynamic, it's creative, it looks amazing.

Play it.
