Unforgettable experience that makes the cat-person child seem alive and that builds a lovely and original significance to the player as its own character.

I wanted to play this game because I thought it would fill the Undertale/Deltarune void but I was really wrong. I have just created another void that can't be filled anymore. I would really recommend it and would recommend sticking to it to the end.

EDIT (Around 3 months later): I finished this game Christmas Eve and I have not stopped thinking about it since. Never have I spent a more beautiful time playing a game than the time I spent playing this one. Its clever commentary and themes on video games as a whole is absolutely mesmerizing. I may be too narrow-minded at the moment but I actually cannot find anything wrong or something I don't love with this game at the moment. Right now, I feel like this is the peak game I have ever played and nothing could ever surpass it. Its art and music inspires me to create something beautiful of my own even if I think it could never compare. I will report months from now if anything changes.

EDIT (12/8/22): For the time ever since finishing it, I have pretty much had Oneshot living in my head rent-free. Whether this is a blessing or a curse, whether this is something that could possibly be reproducible for other people if they played this game, whether this is a desirable or undesirable outcome for myself or others, whether this is healthy or unhealthy for me moving forward, whether it's better in the long run to stop prolonging this feeling I have for the game or continue, whether I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill, or whether my love for this game is telling of the game or of me is honestly unknown or uncertain. Perhaps people are right when they say, "Love is blind." I had a certain love for OneShot that I've never had for a game before or ever since. I had a unique love where, no matter how hard I tried thinking about ever aspect of a game and its creation (in both the developmental and game design sense), I couldn't find anything that I didn't like about the game. Today, I woke and found something I didn't like about OneShot after 3 years of thinking about it on an almost-every-day basis. Make of that (the game and of myself) what you will. (EDIT: I can't believe I had this revelation just a day before the 6 year anniversary of the game. I enjoy the community's content for this game. Some really cool stuff that follow the original feel and theme of the game.)

(EDIT: Also, since there are now multiple versions of this game, there could be a question of which version is best. Having only finished Oneshot (Steam Edition) and World Machine Edition on the Switch, I can say that I still much prefer Oneshot on the PC (Either Steam, Itch.io, or others). There are some very good lore additions in WME and some of the backgrounds are very, very appealing. However, nothing could ever replace the surprise and uniqueness of what the game can give you on your own personal computer. (The superficial computer that it gives you works, but it can never replace your own personal computer that you've grown used to.) So, in all, I still recommend Oneshot on the PC and WME if you really have to.)
