I am absolutely baffled by the monetization. They added a bunch of new vanity avenues to monetize which is fine. I figured they did that so they can give out cards more easily to make the game more f2p friendly; to keep players playing. But now we have the vanity stuff that's monetized AND everything card pack related is two to five times as expensive as it was in the first Shadowverse.
Absolutely disgusting.

Also my friend can't play because he keeps getting Error Code 2.

It's Ys, alright.
If you liked Ys VIII and Ys IX you'll also enjoy Ys X. The combat is a step down from the both though, so be aware.
Not sure I'd recommend the game on a difficulty harder than Normal, but if you're picking Hard or higher you know what you're getting yourself into anyway.

I can't believe they made a MSQ worse than Stormblood. Impressive, really.

Horrible performance and you can't even restart the game if you want to change something about your character without also nuking your previous character creation.
Wait until it goes on discount and/or received many, many patches.

The game is good, but SEGA can go and ♥♥♥♥ itself by paywalling basic features.

Unoptimized garbage. Stay away from this at all costs.
Come back in 3 years and get it when it's heavily discounted and bundled with all the inevitable DLCs.

A buggy, sluggish mess of a game with poor game design choices all around and an unsatisfying main campaign.

Another classic "let's not invest in servers, kill the game and complain there's no interest in the west" Bandai Namco release.
Bamco is, as always, the #1 contender for worst publisher just based on their own stupidity.

I initially got 120 FPS with no stuttering.
Then I restarted the game and now the game is stuttering in the same area where I had previously been with no issues.
Funniest (read: saddest) thing? When I pause the game and bring up the menu the stuttering goes away. The game runs as usual with the menu up just like in the Soulsborne games.
Unpause -> Stuttering is back despite no changes to the game state.

The negative reviews are 100% deserved. I'm glad people are no longer putting up with rushed and unoptimized releases.

A return to form akin to the beloved Digimon World 1.
Progression feels nice and with the large roster of Digimon (232) grinding through many generations of Digimon doesn't get old.

It fixes a lot of DW1's and Re:Digitize's problems, but unfortunately introduces a lot of new issues with its new gimmick.
The two partners only convolute the interfaces, interactions and button prompts, but adds too little in return to the flow of the game.
I'm really hoping that the next World entry will no longer feature this gimmick. (Please god Bamco, don't let the World series die ;_;)

Furthermore, being originally a Vita game, ported to PS4 and now Switch and PC, the game lacks some serious polish and did not introduce QoL features like a greater render distance; which causes items and enemy Digimon to pop-in directly in your face.

Despite all this I still enjoy the game greatly after 40 hours of gametime and personally place it just after DW1, but far ahead of Re:Digitize (= DW1 > Next Order > gap > Re:Digitize).

If you really liked DW1 and could stomach Re:Digitize you can buy this at full price and get a solid and fun experience out of it.
If you unsure you are better off waiting for a discount.
