It's fun, could be better, not as good as Elder Scrolls. If you can get past thinking about the better game you could have had there is fun to be had here.

I really wish I could like this game. But it's just so buggy and clunky. The solution to every bug is having to reload from a previous checkpoint which is usually at least 20 minutes of progress lost, if not more. Quick save/manual save is a lie. It ignores anything you did since the last checkpoint save. Meaning if I finish a mission and decide to upgrade my base before logging off, that's gone. It will only save what you do if you progress to another checkpoint after doing it. Scanner and portal gun disappear? Reload to last checkpoint, which was an hour ago.

I remember enjoying the combat of the original but dropping it due to some bad game design choices and a completely generic and boring story. But that combat has not aged well and now the whole thing just feels bad.

Had high hopes that it would be at the level of Elex. But the combat just feels awful to play. Good graphics, seamed like there was potential in the story, voice acting, and item systems. But none of that really matters when it just isn't enjoyable to play.

I really had to force it to get to 5 hours. That was three play sessions, each I quit due to complete boredom. Should have purchased directly from Steam rather than a reseller so I could have refunded. Even at seven bucks it wasn't worth it.

Early in early access I did not care for this game and did not believe it would make it to a good place. Now that it is nearing the end of early access I would say it is worth buying/playing. Can't say yet if it will replace POE for me, but it's fun.

When I first played a bit 2 years ago I thought it was a game that needed a lot of work but had potential. Now after over two years of additional work it is quite possibly the worst game I have ever played. How you have managed to put this much work into making the game go from playable to unplayable we may never know.

If you are looking for a good ARPG I would suggest Path of Exile or Grim Dawn. If you are ok with early access you can also check out Last Epoch and Pagan Online. All of those options are far better than this.

As for this game it is a stripped down, watered down, janky mess. It is seemingly in development hell with every update making the game worse.

Launch edit: The game is better now. It's not great but it's trying. But make no mistake this game is still a train-wreck of problems. Barely playable servers 5 days after launch. More game breaking bugs than I have ever seen. Progression loss, item loss, skins and dye unlocks wiped, stash being wiped. A day may come when this is fun to play. But today is not that day.

New: I miss the game that POE used to be. There is just nothing remaining in this game that I can call fun anymore. RIP

Old: I have more hours played than any game in my library. More hours played than Diablo 3. Not a perfect game but to imply it isn't great when I spend this much time playing it would be unfair.

It's ok so far, not great. If you can get it for $20 and you really like D&D games go for it. But if you just want a solid RPG there are better ones out there like Pillars of Eternity or Divinity Original Sin, or any Dragon Age, yes even 2 is better.

My favorite game in the series. Probably one of the best games in the last 5 years.
