A game you'll love to hate

Somehow addictive, fun to play

An absolute classic. Still fun after all these years. The legendary "director" engine is simply the best AI.

While the basic idea of "Let's do a kind of Minecraft game with Dinosaurs and better graphics " looks charming, the actual game doesn't live up to this promise.

Pros:
- lots of dinosaurs and historic animals
- better graphics than minecraft

OK:
- gameplay in general, if you get it to work
Cons:
- crashes often
- often can't connect to servers
- unplayable without mods
- but mods need to be reloaded from the server every frigging time you try to connect
- the game freezes while downloading and installing mods (again)
- so you have to listen to the anoying startup music without being able to turn it down or change keyboard bindings
- in 3 of 5 tries you can't connect to a server because of timeouts
- in 1 of 5 times the game crashes
- needs 166 GB of space on your harddrive (with additional maps)
- you often glitch through the surface of the map

I really wanted to like the game because a lot of friends play and like it. but for me it's just not worth the hassle I have to go through every time I try to connect to a server.

I got it cheaper in a sale and would be angry at the developers if I had bought it for the full price. But even for a cheap price I'm not yet sure it is worth the harddrive space.

It's pretty telling that the frist 3 archivements "Survive a day and a night", "Tame a dinosaur" and "Ride a dinosaur" are only archived by less than 50 % of the players at the time of this review (15.02.2020).

It is amazing how Overkill manages to add new DLC to keep the game interesting

This game is really fun and deserves a bigger audience. It has a small but dedicated fan base still playing it, but unfortunally you have to be lucky to find an open space on the few servers with players on it.

Good soundtrack, disturbed by the ever reoccuring "Game over. Start again". Ridicolously hard to play. Frustrating.

Wonderful mix between First Person Shooter and Adventure Game.

A really immersing adventure. Though I don't like "survival horror"-games in general, I loved this game!

Funky music, nice independent game
