As a fairly inexperienced player in these types of games, I gotta say that I'm not pleased with my initial experience. I wanted to go through the tutorial to learn the controls, but it was extremely frustrating to progress at some points when you have to dodge a projectile that was invisible for me. I had to blindly guess when it was about to hit my character three times in a row from many different distances, which was super frustrating. As soon as I had to do this again while short hopping, I got fed up with the tutorial and started some casual online matches after a little bit of practice.

As expected, I got absolutely ♥♥♥♥ on and wasted all of my stocks in less than a minute. After that I tried out a free for all game, which had a similar outcome. This time, in the middle of the match, I think we all got disconnected and the controls were stuck in the menu. I think the game thought that I held the up or down button. After restarting, this issue was gone, of course. The second guy I played against seemed to notice that I was a noob and tried to go a bit more easy on me. We played many different rounds and it was okay.
But due to missing out on most of the tutorial, I was absolutely ♥♥♥♥ beyond the usual attacks. I didn't really understand why saving myself from falling or escaping combos was so extremely difficult, as expected.

Personally, I think the frustrating bug in the tutorial ruined it for me. I really wanted to enjoy the game, but as a new player, the experience was less than ideal and by no means welcoming, I don't usually refund any game, but I don't think I want to deal with the frustration that is being a new player in a world full of veterans that beat you in less than a minute.

I would not recommend this game for new players, but Smash/Brawlhalla veterans might have less of a barrier of entry. Note that this review is very subjective and doesn't imply that the game mechanics are bad. I just personally didn't have any fun playing against other people and I don't have the time to practice 10 hours a day.

Early Access Review
I don't even know where to start. At first, I was not sure whether or not to refund the game, as I had a "slow start".
But I'm so glad I didn't choose to refund the game. Super super glad.

Noita is a fantastic and super challenging roguelike that is so full of content and mysterious that you will get tons of hours out of the game. I mean I'm almost 11 hours into the game and have never even come close to winning a run (Not sure when that happens yet). The furthest I've gotten is "8 areas visited".

I don't want to spoil anything, but feel free to explore everything you could imagine. Even at ground level *wink wink*. I've accidentally found two whole different areas after walking to the right for minutes.
Noita gives you tons and tons of freedom. Even on a physical level. I think liquids such as this toxic stuff and even fire are some of your worst enemies. Then there are increasingly difficult enemies based on the floor you're on. Many of them are incredible challenges and you need proper planning sometimes.

Between floors, you can customize your wands, fill them with spells, buy new spells or wands and receive one perk (I think you can receive more through another perk I've seen).

The physics are absolutely awesome. Take their marketing statement literally. Every pixel is actually simulated. Fire spreads, ice breaks, liquids flow, acid destroys blocks, you can kick things around, oil can catch fire, you can be soaked in oil and catch fire for longer, etc. etc. This has probably only scratched the surface.

I can't wait for the game to even get more content, due to it being in early access. It already feels like a polished product.

One more thing for the devs. I'm playing on Linux via Proton. It runs flawlessly.
All in all, if you like roguelikes, this game is a must-buy!

I really enjoyed the (short) experience I had with the game! The puzzles are sometimes a bit tricky, but what I like most is how many different puzzles are contained within such a small object. Honestly, the mechanical feeling of the puzzles is great. The only thing that I personally didn't enjoy that much were the music and the atmosphere sometimes, because it almost got to a scary level at some points and constantly had me on the edge of expecting a jumpscare. I think the ending would have scared me if I didn't take off my headphones for a short moment. Nevertheless, this was an outstanding experience for only 1.24€. I will definitely be playing the sequel in the next few days!

A great experience. I absolutely love it! 9/10

More Details:

+
Nice artstyle & lighting.
Super cool and fitting music.
Not too easy.
Many different weapons (Swords, Zweihanders, Great Axes, etc.) There's even a Sword made out of Jelly!
Unique crafting system. Never seen that before.
Cool and fun way to progress: Either you farm yourself up to diamonite or you may be lucky and you can purchase a diamonite pickaxe at the town. (Collecting and selling a lot of wood is a great way to farm gold. But it recently got nerfed. But in my opinion it's still worth it!)
Challenging enemies with a pretty good AI.
You can unlock hats, companions, races and different variants for them (haircuts). Hats are really useful. I strongly recommend the Miner Cap.
There are a lot of skills available. For example "Potion Brewer". With this skill, you have a 50% chance of crafting a big potion instead of a small potion.
Many randomly generated dungeons. After each dungeon, you will visit a town where you can smelt ores, sell some items and make yourself some armor.
You can play as a mage, a ranger or a warrior. Of course you can combine those if you want.

-
Crafting: It's really hard to figure out every recipe on your own. Maybe a recipe book for all the basic stuff would be a good thing to implement.
Inventory: Your inventory gets full way too fast. Maybe adding a way to craft backpacks would be nice.
Items disappear after a couple of seconds.

That's all I can complain about. So to sum it up, I think this game is super addictive and fun. In my opinion, the game is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. After 4.5hrs of total play time I almost(!) beat the game 2 times now. I died at the last boss. I won't spoil it, but the boss reminds me a lot of Terraria. :D

I strongly recommend you to buy this game. You'll support awesome game developers AND get a super cool game!
