Dark Souls has ruined video games for me, like porn has ruined my sex life. Because now I can't get off to either without having my nipples twisted in a certain way.

Sekiro is pretty good.


Alright it's really good. There are no summons in this game, so you Dark Souls 'veterans' who claim to be top ♥♥♥♥ even when you can't beat the Iron Golem without the help of Tarkus, are gonna have to scrub up, cause this game doesn't hold your hand. There is no stamina bar, and depleting an enemies health isn't always your real goal in this game either. Instead, a new mechanic, 'posture' has been introduced.

While you're dancing the tango of death with your blades, both you and your enemies are trying to break the others posture. If you succeed, you get to score a death-blow on the enemy. This eliminates the need to deplete the enemies health. Your focus during fights will often be more on deflecting attacks than attacking or even dodging. If you treat this like a Dark Souls game, you will get absolutely shidded and farded on.

There are other mechanics at play too, during combat, such as combat arts and prosthetic tools. Each one can be useful for certain situations (firecrackers are almost always a good option), and can add another layer of complexity to the fights (especially when you encounter enemies who have their own gimmicks).

At a certain point, if you stick with it long enough, the combat will click. And when it does, Sekiro quickly ramps up into being one of the most enjoyable games that From Software has released.
