Early Access Review
Tiny update since it has been a while. I have put a few more hours into the game, not a lot more but enough to say, I like the direction they want to go with the game, they listen to feedback, they fix their mistakes, the seasonal content was not that bad either, having a seasonal questline and repeatable stuff to do.

Game feels more polished, and smooth and overall less sluggish than my last review, but what (unfortunately) it lacks, is players and enough funding to help the developers. I really wanted this game to succeed when it was announced, and I am still rooting for it, I really hope many new people try it, at least before it's gone if it crashes instead of landing safely.

As such I will finally change my review to Yes, do try it out, it's worth it's price if you are looking for something nice in this niece genre. And who knows, if enough people play it, the game can make it to full release and get even better. ^+^

I don't want to make my original review disappear so I will move it lower.
On that note, it has been a week, and from my additional 44 hours from original review, over 20 of them are still a queue timer. But you know what? That means I got to play around 20 hours. Yes there were disconnects, and yes there were crashes, the game is still not perfect yet and I would not recommend to a new player to buy before it is completely stabilized BUT, I had fun. I actually have fun when the game works.
I NEED to say some pros and cons though.

Neutral: Gameplay is the usual grindfest, farm to get weapons, farm to upgrade them, farm to get wayfinders and farm some more to upgrade them to farm something new better BUT the only reason I put that as neutral is because this comes down to a person's preferences. This is a big pro for me, I love grinding if the gameplay loop is fun, which brings me to the cons.

Cons: First of all, the gameplay loop itself is fun, but a lot of the core stuff that are supposed to make it fun don't work properly yet.
Combat: Sometimes enemies just don't care that you are there, they chose piece that day (open world only so far)
Combat: In dungeons, sometimes you try to dodge (supposed to make you immune for a sec) as you are supposed to do mechanically, but sometimes enemies or their damage just follow you after you dodge and you get hit out of range.
Overworld: Monsters scale by area and respawn way too quickly, which means you can afk farm early spots early on. (reason I put this as con is mostly because I would love a world that gets stronger as I do and I don't just oneshot enemies.
Overworld: Same as enemies, things on the ground respawn way too fast, like you get a chest, turn in he corner and come back, the chest is respawned again.
Overworld: stuck in combat with enemies that aren't even there
Overworld: enemies will randomly aggro you on teleporters even from far away, making it unsafe to teleport and go afk, when in my opinion teleports should be safe spots.
Overworld: Long loading screens even when teleporting in the same area
Overworld: multiple crashes when teleporting from one area to another causing you to restart the game and having you to redo the whole thing.
Overworld: you can get stuck in weird places that don't even look like you can be stuck and then you are just falling in place for about 15-20 seconds before the game realizes and puts you in a loading screen (they love their loading screens) again, to teleport you in your last teleporter's location. This is very bad because you have to walk the whole way again.

And last negative that will connect with the first positive is the Reward Tower AKA Battle Pass
They give you 25 free rewards if the Reward Tower is not purchased, and at the end of a season (around 2 months), the Reward Tower disappears as any battle pass would. This disappoints me a lot as I am going to give them praise for their biggest positive.

Pros
THIS IS THE FIRST COMPANY (featuring a battle pass), that if purchased WILL, FOREVER, BE THERE, to complete and redeem rewards WHENEVER you want, no matter the season.

BIG POINT that IF PURCHASED.

I am so happy that this is a feature but it also makes me so sad for the people that will play in the future. In my opinion whenever you are doing something so fresh, then you should keep them always there for unpurchused ones too.

Small con again on this but while I get trying to keep your paying customers happy, you still enforce the FOMO mechanic of, if I buy I can rest and do whenever, but if I don't, it's gone for good.

Overworld: scenery is gorgeous to me for it's art style
Overworld: combat feels nice when it works
Overworld: most animations feel quite fluid with room for improvement
Combat: Most of the abilities I have seen, work seamlessly and are beautiful, they fit their characters' role and image and are fun to use and see.
Combat: Dungeons are interesting in combat and feel right.
Dungeons: Visuals are clean, hidden chests are mostly easy to find and get, there's also some nice puzzles that could improve a bit on how challenging they are and how well they work.
Dungeons: It is possible to solo even when not meeting the (recommended) powers in the starting screen, if played correctly.
Co-op: obviously marketed, but you can play with friends, even cross-platform
Story is nice and voice acting is really good, with a lot of room for improvement. There are also interesting cutscenes.
Cutscenes: there's a small trailer for each wayfinder in-game, it is quite nice to have but mostly unneeded.
Housing: Not much to do (yet) but I loved my simplistic house and more furniture can be farmed/crafted.

MORE TO ADD IN THE FUTURE

Overall Opinion

If you are still, EVEN a tiny bit unsure about the game and you are not a collector with money to spare, or have friends you really want to join, then avoid purchasing the game on this state.
It is simply not worth it, crashes and disconnects frequently, and the cons outweigh the pros overall

I don't regret buying Wayfinder at all, because I knew I wanted this game, and I accept it in all it's bad state right now. But unless you are as confident you want this game as I was, or you don't want to miss out on early access reward towers or HEROIC Kyros, then really wait for a new patch or Free2Play release.

Original
I can't believe that I have to give a W to Blizzard when they are literally one of the worst companies out there.
BUT
Out of my 18 hours play time, I've spent 15+ hours on the que and less than 2 actually playing the game.
AND WORST OF ALL
Everytime I was playing, I would get some random dc because of server issues and be placed back AT THE END OF THE QUE.
At least Blizzard had the decency to put dc'd players back without a que
HUGE L Digital Extremes....
How can a publisher as good as DE (in my image of them) have such a ***** release, I can't understand.
I really wanted to support this game and buy the full edition but it's not even worth to play it EVEN IF it was free as it is.

Please do yourself a favor and don't waste your money or your time or your mental health on this game until you know it is fixed.

Free seasonal battle pass with all rewards on it unlocked by leveling up while playing missions and completing tasks. 20/10 company.

I downloaded and have played the game from day one since.

It has had a few negatives like:
1. Long timers of 500 seconds for each player with 90 extra seconds added at the start of every round (on the works to get reduced)

2. Random connection failed issues (after getting it myself it only happens when there is packet loss), it is currently unresolved but it has gotten to a better point.

3. It is missing a ton of cards BUT new constructed decks and new cards are added frequently.

4. There are semi-frequent events which give a ton of gems (game currency for packs) and have unique rules of gameplay that are fun to participate in. These events usually give a choice of 3 "loaner decks" (premade decks with cards you might not own) to participate in them if you can't make a deck yourself BUT there are some events that don't have this choice and you might feel "forced" to create a specific type of deck to participate and use up your gems/ crafting materials for cards OR skip on the event and lose out on the rewards OR play with a weaker deck of cards that might not work very well with each other just to be able to participate but it might be hard or slow to get far with those.

And there is also a few positives, such as:
1. The most important thing in the game f̶u̶n̶ gems comes at a steady pace of 120 gems daily divided in the form of 3 daily missions (40 gems each x3), 20 gems by just the daily login bonus and 5 gems by the daily "spectate a duel" function. They also come from other forms of content such as the events mentioned above, ranking up in rated duels and there is a small chance that you can earn them as a random reward at the conclusion of each duel at a small random amount such as 2, 5, 8, 10 etc.

2. There are solo mode duels that give nice rewards and also give a bit of story/lore for those interested, they are updated semi-frequently with each solo mode to give out a few new cards/ other cosmetics.

3. The battle pass stays for around 90 days and can only be purchased with gems. (can't remember the actual price but it is around 600-800 gems). It costs a week's worth of daily quests and gives back the full amount that you paid for it and a bit more, and other nice things such as crafting materials, a "mate" (pet that stands next to the duel arena) and a background picture of a card.

4. The rules of banned and limited cards sometimes change (reasonably) as to keep a healthy and rotating pace and environment in duels. There is also a free for all mode where nothing is banned/limited.

5. More on the daily quests, they can be completed in all modes unless very specifically stated so (like the duel 3 times in solo mode daily). Also you can stack a maximum amount of 9 dailies at any given time so you don't even have to complete them the day you get them as long as you login to receive them. Lastly you can not receive the same daily twice, so if there is a daily you are struggling with for any reason or just don't feel like doing it multiple times (I am looking at you solo mode duels daily) you can just skip doing it until the last day of the month as everything resets completely then and you start fresh from only 3 and new dailies.

6. Ranked duels give gem rewards for ranking up each rank/tier and "soft reset" at the end of each month pushing you down a few tiers. (This is good because you can reclaim the gem rewards again).

Overall my impression of it is that it is a really good version of a Yu-Gi-Oh game with a healthy player count and while it asks of us to log-in daily as any of the games nowadays it doesn't make you feel like you are going to "miss out a lot" if you don't. I like it and that is why it has kept me as a dedicated player.

Lastly I want to add that I have spent 0$ on this game and I have about 5 fully completed and competitive decks that I enjoy playing with, including Blackwing, Neos Fusion, Dragonmaids and my personal favorite Crystal Beasts in the almost 9 months since the game's release, it might not seem like a lot but I am really happy with it.

This is one of the few games that caught my attention when I learned about it, tried it out and it was awesome. In the first month it was blooming with cheaters BUT the developers worked hard on fixing the game to defend against them and it has worked. Over 4 months later since its release i find it stable and welcome to players right now, and it definitely is new player friendly.

Whether you like pulling and pushing or run around and calculate your moves to precisely jump through any obstacles this is the game for you.

P.S. I missed the first few days of the release and i lost the cactus skin, now I am BIG SAD.
