Early Access Review
I was first apprehensive for purchasing an in dev game for $40.

I then found out how satisfying it was to watch a bot absolutely dome that one cocky teammate who tries to act tacticool and justified the $40 purchase.

10/10, would recommend.

After playing this for a whole two months, S.O.G. Prairie fire is by far the best CDLC for Arma released to date.
The Review:
Even though this is a bit overpriced, it is worth the money due to the following:

-The Mod Scene.
Compared to the other CDLC's, there are hundreds of missions and addons to S.O.G that improve the replay-ability of the DLC. An example of this is the Unsung mod, which compliments Prairie Fire exceptionally well.

-The Creator Provided Content
The missions for SOG are extremely well made, with player limits from as little as one person to as many as fifteen. The content however, does not stop with single player/co-op as there is also another developer provided and maintained mode, called Mike Force. Mike Force is made exceptionally well, with groups of tens of people being able to comfortably operate on the map at once. The content such as voiceovers and vehicle interiors are matched only by mods with teams of tens of developers slaving away for multiple years to improve them.

-The Map
Of course, Arma is going to cause lag. The SOG map is quite laggy sometimes, but it is to be expected with all of the plant life on the map. CamLaoNam is by far the best base game map with all types of terrain and domains of fighting, some examples being riverine which is amplified by the assets provided, air warfare from both helicopters and F4's, tank battles, urban warfare, and even mountain and jungle warfare.

-The Vehicles
Fortunate son has never felt so good to play when riding in a huey or 'Sea Pickle.' There is some disparity between the availability of Blufor and Opfor/Greenfor vehicles, but this is solved by simply installing Unsung or another mod. The vehicles perfectly fit the map, with two airbases, many FOB vehicle bases, and riverine patrol areas being scattered throughout the map.

-The Weapons
Yes, this is an arma mod. Yes it has custom weapons. There are countless weapons that are expertly modeled after their real life counterparts with custom sounds and animations.

-Zeus Features
By far, the zeus replayability is amazing. There are modules such as revive, carry, and more in terms of medical as well as built in support through equipable radios that add to the experience. There is also an option to disable all of these options and modify them.

This DLC is the most horrendous DLC I have seen in all of Arma from the original Arma Cold War Assault, to Arma Armed Assault. Many players will just say "Download mods instead" but I am here to give you the reasons why to do this instead of wasting your money on this DLC.

My Grievances
--This is essentially a mixture of old Arma 2 base game vehicles with Arma 3 sounds. The guns have the exact same sounds of the default guns that are included with the base game, and even skip sounds when you fire on automatic (keeping with the fire rate of the original weapon's automatic fire). The guns also barely have any 3d scopes, and those 3d scopes are often un-zoomable. The map is meh at best, with the textures and map looking absolutely horrendous and essentially a worse chenaraus.

--Not only are these assets disappointing, but the vehicle assets as well. There are a select few vehicles with interiors, mainly being transport vehicles or parts of vehicles that matter least. Most of these interior models favor the transport vehicles as the two main tanks have a completely black interior as the driver, and only have gunsights as the commander and gunner. These are even more disappointing as only a select few vehicle weapons have their own sounds as well as the engines themselves. These are all again, you guessed it, base game sounds.

--From playing the five short hours I have played, the AI interact weirdly with the map in ways I have never seen of Arma 3, even with many mods. They often get stuck in the biggest of places such as the old style swinging gates. They will not interact with many of these making it possible to trap them inside these fenced in areas.

--In terms of the "Story," there is none. There is a moshpit of 'missions,' or scenarios which are worsened by the ineptitude of the AI either being absolute marksmen across a 5 klick range or being storm troopers over a 10m range. Of course, some of this is Arma's engine but the vehicle interaction such as the widely memed helicopter Abrams are absolutely broken.

--Multiplayer is its own version of broken. The "multiplayer scenarios" are either PVP/BR gamemodes or "go to this area, kill this AI, rinse, repeat." For a mod, this would have been fine as it simply is a modded mission scenario but having 3 or 4 of the 9 scenarios for multiplayer be deathmatch when no one plays the dlc online is quite an overkill. Being this is a selling point of having 9 scenarios, killing AI endlessly is not worth the money.

I have been looking forward to this DLC for the past six months since it was announced via the Arma 3 newsletter to only be let down.

Edit: some of the "small" bugs have been fixed but not all. It is still a collection of models that are achievable with mods as well as have vanilla sounds. These reviews really show the true state of the "paid mod."

Have you ever anted to stream in real life? Have you streamed and gotten exactly 0 viewers? If so, this game is for you. From the extreme balance of eating, maintaining your needs, and streaming to the npc's who seem to magically lean on everything, this game is pretty good. It is a bit buggy but that is expected with new games. Overall, it is a pretty decent game with a long playtime.

To start out:
Just Cause 1: 340 hours (Xbox)
Just Cause 2: 1728 hours (Xbox, PS, PC)
Just Cause 3: 672 hours (PS, Xbox)

To dispel the rumors of “there’s nothing new”, I can say that there isn’t. I have unlocked most of the first five sectors. I have even completed the first two sectors (every mission, stint, etc).
Just Cause has been a game limited to “destroy this in a settlement”, or “jump off of this ramp and get points” and actions along the nature of that. Just Cause 4 is the opposite. In JC4, there are no restrictions to where you have to destroy x y and z to take over a base. There are however tasks you have to do, which are more interesting. In the game, there are “stunt jumps” which are only achievable through a vehicle. This vehicle, when jumping through the “ring” is unlocked for airdrops via a system. This unlocks some challenge to the game, as some of the stunt jumps are only boats and they’re all on land. There are also stunts which require high or insanely high speeds to achieve. Finding a car to fit this speed is usually easy with car spawns in the game currently.
Not only is the map beautiful, but the scenery also can hide some pretty critical structures that are useful with only specific gear. Some people claim the weather system isn’t used for much. I believe if weather events were too frequent, they could ruin gameplay, as tornados, lightning, etc is an annoyance to me when playing.
The vehicles have some variation from previous games, but there are certain vehicles, like the air vehicles that are similar or the same. They almost all have variants in spawn locations, meaning certain vehicles spawn in their respective biome. There are also different paints for most off-road and heavy vehicles, for resistance and Black Hand soldiers/vehicles. The military vehicles almost always have nitro as well as the boats/ships have nitro jump. The civilian vehicles are generally faster and don’t require nitro. This is different than JC3, allowing you to use nitro from the beginning of the game, allowing for more fun.
Equipment airdrops are also changed from previous games as they now come quicker, at about 3 mins I have found. This also happens for personal drops, which have about the same cool down and work on every discovered and known “outpost” unlike the old games where you had to either A: liberate them, or B: Actually discover the outpost physically. Now, you can teleport in my experience to enemy sectors next to or past the front lines (I haven’t tried further).

This concludes my 5 hour JC4 review. Keep pumping out the amazing games Square Enix, and I will look forward to JC5 :) Anyone who has rebuttals can comment on the review with their experience.

PS: Don’t let the 36% of negative reviews fool you. It is actually I pretty amazing game with the right hardware.

(sarcasm included)
Have you ever wanted to ruin your both CPU and GPU at once?

Have you ever wanted to get yelled at by a 5 year old claiming to be your commander?

Have you ever wanted a game that 200 787 1200 1700 hours is still considered a noob?

And finally, do you have a Laptop?

If you answered yes to any one of these questions besides the last one, YOU qualify for Arma 3, the wonderful ruining game for your pc's hardware AND your stress level!

*NOTE- Antidepressants not included*
