Was a great game in Early Access, is an even greater game at its launch.

Even after 100+ hours, I would recommend this game for a specific type of gamer and nobody else.

That type is the sandbox architect. People who like to build things intricately, making a canvas out of any game.

So here's what makes it appealing:
Outposts aren't what I expected after Fallout 4, but they have an industrial purpose unlike settlements.
Ship building though... The shipbuilding is just sexy.
In the wise words of Mick Gordon: "I'm a moth, and that's a pretty big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flame."

On the other hand...
This game is the victim of horrible design decisions. You might be asking: "What are you talking about Goodman?"
I'm talking about the horrendous "every acre of land and every single planet is a different instance" design philosophy. Yeah sure, you can travel between two planets. Good luck landing on a planet after a 7 hour flight though.
I build this HUGE ship with tons of guns on it, right? The thing becomes useless once I kill every other ship in orbit. Because I can't actually descend onto the planet. I have to do it by a cutscene.

Landing? Cutscene!
Launching? Cutscene!
Travelling between 2 planets? Cutscene!
Warping between 2 systems? You better believe it's a cutscene!

The game takes the control away on so many occasions that I'm not sure I'm playing a game or watching it anymore.

Early Access Review
With the balance revamp incoming, thought I should change this.

Games like these are the reason why people don't like sequels. Trying to bring innovation, not that it's a bad thing, but at the cost of destroying the mechanics we loved in the previous game. They just had to add on top of DD1's gameplay, but they scratched everything that made Dungeon Defenders what it is. Now it's a dull ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of numbers and stats.

Also F2P+microtransactions, so you know where this is going.

Is supposed to be an "upgraded Dungeon Defenders", looks more like its public beta.
