The game is a significant refinement of Yakuza Like a Dragon, and holds the same game-play magic that did throughout. I'd say 2/3 of the game takes place in Hawaii, and ichiban's story is fantastic. However I do have two gripes. The intro to the game is slow, and awkward, an easy pass for people returning to the series, but its exposition for nearly 4 hours. All the meat in the middle is incredible, serious when needed but silly when you stray, even dropping Animal Crossing in my lap as a mini game right when I got tired of other aspects of the game (I spent 12 hours on the AC mini game). The only real two gripes I have are the slow start, and the wet fart of a finale to the main story. If you expect the perfect storm from the first game, A-tier Japanese and English voice actors killing it in the booth, there's none of that. It is a better game, but the story is nowhere near as intense as I'd want as a follow up to the previous game. I recommend it highly given the meat of the game is so fantastic though. I just wish they didn't blue balls me with the build up.

If you are the type who loved the era of old "decisions matter" bioware or obsidian games, this takes that idea to the extreme. RPG enthusiasts rejoice.

I have been having issues with Vulkan on my rig however, (3600x, 32GB DDR4 ram, 2080ti) where it crashes a lot. It stops with the DX11 selection but if you no-life the DX11 variant the framerate drops become more, and more, prolific until you're at 5fps. To be frank, I don't mind that. With what I've seen so far I am absolutely willing to deal with some growing pains for what is essentially the most in-depth RPG ive ever seen.

Save a LOT also, the autosave is unforgiving. DO NOT RELY ON IT.

An unbelievable experience. Map is overwhelmingly populated with "stuff". Grinding out some EXP only to be baited by bosses. The animations are roughly on par with Bloodborne where you can anticipate what happens next with slightly more time than dark souls, but mistakes are costly if you make them. It is absolutely everything anyone could want from a souls grade game adapted for open world.

People complain with frame drops, which absolutely do happen and regularly. One of the first minibosses in the game comes to mind, battling on horseback where the framerate can go from a chugging 20 and bounce back up to a stable 60 over the entire fight. I'm running a 3600x, 32GB ram, Titan Xp rig and the reasons for frame drops dont really make much sense, aside from just needing greater optimization.

Even with the game's flaws I will absolutely play the game top to bottom, and ultimately will come out the other side with an immense appreciation for it.

Ever played a civ game? no? well you should at least try it, because once you do you will likely enjoy it. if not? refund it. (has to be done on steam within 2 weeks of purchase and under 2 hours of gameplay)

My personal favorite game of the past 5 years or so. If you enjoy games like MGS4 (cutscene/exposition wise), Paper Mario and the thousand year door/South Park and the stick of truth (combat wise) and can stomach some of the goofiest japanese nonsense? This is a wet dream. The english voice acting is a bit to get used to, but they have an insane amount of emotional range when it counts. The story is a slow stockpile, starting without a buck to your name to becoming country changing, I have played this game twice now (once on XSX Game pass, loved it so much i wanted to give the devs my money and bought it on Steam, playing it again) and frankly it's a must play to anyone who likes turn based, story driven JRPGs.

Couldn't recommend more highly.

Runs fine. There are some bugs I have seen on occasion but its nothing near as bad as anything put out by Bethesda. The PC port running off an SSD seems to be the ideal way to avoid glitches between me and my friends, I think its a WILDLY fun game, I wish the game was better on last gen consoles, but on PC it seems truly fine. The only glitch that happened numerous times was my characters hair would just... de-spawn turning my V from a stylish punk to the guy who just got out of prison. Not exactly a big problem though.

My PC Config:
Ryzen 3600x
32GB 3000mhz RAM
RX Vega 64 LC
boot drive- 120GB NVME SSD
the install drive- 500GB NVME SSD

I'm apparently painfully mediocre at platform shooters. Gorgeous game, anyone who wants a great platformer this is a no-brainer.
