My negative review hinges entirely upon terribly buggy and poorly thought out multiplayer. Bought the game to play with friends, and it just constantly has problems playing multiplayer. There are never useful error messages. Sometimes people just cannot connect, and if they get an error message at all it is just generic. Sometimes the play session can bug out and the game continues to run, but you cannot actually do anything. If you play with four people you give up the ability to do anything with the companions because they need to be in the party and you can only have 4 people in the party. Ultimately what triggered the negative review is that our last session ended with a cut scene waiting to be played at camp, and because of that we were unable to use that save. Fortunately I save very often due to the plethora of problems we have encountered so it does not really set us back, but it is none the less ridiculous.

Basically, the multiplayer just feels like a last minute addition that barely bother to support. It is shameful for a game to have this price point, have made this much money, and still have these problems.

If single player is your thing? I'm sure it's great. If multiplayer is why you're looking at buying it, save yourself the frustration.

simple, but fun. not a lot of replayability, but for the price that's not exactly a problem.

as somebody who agonizes over time in city builders, pausing, doing things generally slowly and planned, i felt it presented a different sort of challenge for me.

will be fun to give a whirl every once and while to see if i can beat my own scores.

to be perfectly honest, i went "ooh i like city builders, and i like dejobaan games, and the price is right", and was not disappointed.

Crashed several times. Managed to play fifteen whole minutes. Refunded because a game this expensive, with this big a budget, from this big a studio, should just freaking work.

An unskippable intro video, means this is an easily skippable game.

When I launch a game, I want to play, not watch a non interactive movie.

Cozy little endless dodging left and right until you crash.

Not a lot here, but it's pretty relaxing to turn your brain off and just dodge, exactly what I was expecting and desiring.

If you're going to invest a bunch of money into the game, you will probably enjoy the hell out of it. It's basically magic plus some cool mechanics that don't work in physical games.

If you're going to try free to play, just don't. Yes Eternal is more generous with cards than most, but are those cards you get useful? usually no. You will still spend months, likely several, allowing other people to pummel you over, and over, and over so that you can get finally get enough cards to win. Then you can become to person that is destroying poor free to play players and trying to break their spirit.

If you can handle that, be aware that the shuffler sucks. You're going to lose a bunch of games because of how it works. I would say I lost between 1/3 and 1/2 of my games solely because of drawing, with nothing I could do but watch myself lose. This includes using the game's prebuilt decks.

tldr; like most f2p games, pay or be bored.
