Bannerlord is a great prequel to Warband, but it does have its ups and downs.

Even though my hours on bannerlord on steam is only around 160, I have played bannerlord on console for a solid two months or more and can say base game bannerlord is great for beginners after the long trudge of learning the basic components that run the economy, starting your warband and eventually becoming a vassal or making your own kingdom.

I highly recommend this game not because of its great features or gameplay design but because it is simply addictive and satisfying to increase your reputation in the world, make more money and form a large army to conquer your most hated faction or clan.

The greatest thing about bannerlord which is the greatest thing about warband as well, is the modding community. You can find so many well made mods that can enhance your experience in bannerlord after the first couple hundred hours of grinding your first playthrough, or you can completely and utterly change your game with a total conversion mod! Yes there are many terrible grindy features to this game, like the repetitive end-game when trying to conquer all of the map, and the grind for money, losing a great number of high-tier troops due to a stupid decision or a HUGE army you got ambushed by, but that’s what makes the game fun and will always make me come back.

If you have the desire to lead an army, build your story and roleplay in a world where you can be anything from a peasant with a sword, all the way to becoming the king of a great kingdom. You could be a bandit and rule the criminal world. The game really is “Free form” at times, letting you decide exactly what you want to do (most of the time). And that’s what is enjoyable.

Great game, has many bugs and repetitive gameplay mechanics that make me want to uninstall. Easy to learn hard to master economy. Combat is fine. Multiplayer could use some work (no this game is not co-op, multiplayer is strictly PVP)

Great fun when you play with a friend, slaughter enemies and constantly on the move! For Democracy!
