There is a chance the servers will go offline for the remastered, this never needs internet access. So it's not silly to buy both :)

A fascinating case indeed - a product of a German Studio, in dedication to one of the most well-regarded female Spies of the second World War & ends based off of an actual atrocity committed by an SS unit that even shocked the Nazis.

With a moody atmosphere and Grimm dark art style wouldn't be too far out of place in a WH40K game, it does seem to honor the dark side of the second World War - again, the ending appears to be based off of the Oradour-sur-Glane massacre, the environment tends to have things like hung bodies (some appearing as illusions) and the stealth kills are something out of Wolfenstein the New Order. I was sucked in by its dark magic immediately when I was young, it still makes my hair stand up, being based off of real life and all.

It is certainly one of those games in which the things around the game such as graphics, music, story and atmosphere outweigh the game play itself. Which is good for the game play because... it's slightly rubbish. Let's just say the negative reviews are slightly right.

But I absolutely insist that this game is worth buying simply because If you're like me, You'll fall in love with the dark colors, the grim atmosphere & appreciate a little known figure in the darkest time in human history https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violette_Szabo

Really absurd oversight that you can't replay chapters...

I can not recommend it enough. It's a Wonderful Masterpiece that deserves every bit of success it can get.

This isn't the best game in the series (The old blood, I cannot recommend enough), this isn't the best co-op (that would be Rainbow six Vegas 2), but you can appreciate Youngblood despite its flaws.

Stealth is a lot more easier even with the cloak, It's deeply satisfying that I can now - with ease - take down almost everyone along the way, slick as a whistle. The OST is great and I often got swept up with it being a dark but hopeful 80s style track, that reminds me of the old pixel games. And the open-endedness gives it a lot of replayability

I won't defend its flaws. If you want enemies to be satisfying to kill, you have to play along with the arms race of upgrading your weapons. Enemies can see you right through the dark when you have just a flashlight (upgrades can put it on weapons). And you just barely interact with all the other characters, by comparison the 3 previous games, are far from as interesting anyways including the two main characters*. And I won't defend the microtransactions.

But I just can't agree with everyone that said it was that bad. It's still got the quality of the Wolfenstin series - if it's the worst of the series that doesn't make it that bad. And It's at least worth the money if you're getting the standard edition. But the Buddy Pass is certainly worth the extra - You can have plenty of fun with a friend, at least after getting the hang of requesting to travel... 7/10

People are right about what this game did wrong and what it didn't do - I still love it.

Edit: OK maybe it was a bit too nice to this game, I'm saying it's not that bad, I'm not saying it's reached the reasonable standards set by the rest of the series. In a series that has been so far outstanding, good enough isn't really good enough.

(in case you're wondering, 10/10 for TOB, 9/10 for TNO & 8/10 for TNC)

*Some people might view this as a light reading, but I didn't find them as cringe as everyone said they are. By comparison to B.J. they're just plain boring. They clash with the theme of the series, heck they clash with thetheme of the game itself but they are easy to tune out.

Honestly, this game told the story watch dogs should have had. A surveillance system so powerful not even its creators are immune from its abuse. All watch dogs tells you is that 'if you put everything on the same system, anything can be hacked'. Orwell makes you complicit in how others are seen & actually gets you to regret that in the end. It's much more mature & Orwell actually makes you think on the subject of the manipulation of language & warrantless wiretapping.

And the story is so captivating, it actually gets me replaying it just for the smallest lines of dialogue. Orwell doesn't overstay it's welcome, it lets you leave no stone unturned & still stays on track in such a way you can {spoiler}figure out the truth be for the ending{/spoiler}.

Guess that's what you can do when you don't juggle a project between multiple departments... Ubisoft.

You guys could have at least sold this for like $5. Getting it for free kind of makes me fell a bit guilty.

It is exactly as advertised. A top-down shooter game with strict rules of engagement. You are rewarded for doing things by the book & cannot proceed to next level for not abiding by the tough but fair ROE - Not even that, You always get more points for taking people alive. So if you do everything exactly right for one level you can proceed to the next 5 levels even if you are killing with impunity.

I am disappointed, however, that a game called 'police stories' has a whirlwind of cliches for a story. If you're interested in a good police story I thoroughly recommend LA noire (I would also recommend sleeping dogs but I haven't seen the story it self, it's supposed to be excellent.) Aside from the actually surprising ending, I recommend this game for the gameplay & the soundtrack, not the story.
