My history with dying light over the years has been complicated, i originally got it to play with an Ex-Friend who had a habit of draining the fun outta everything so i had a bad aftertaste for a few years.

Eventually though i came back partly do to the "So guys, we did it!" meme and seeing some techinques like head hopping and stun kills made me curious to replay this game and after playing through it twice in the last year or so, i'm really glad i did.

First off the parkour is buttery smooth for the most part, You always have an inherit flow to how you move and it makes traversal fun and rewarding with exp gained for even lil climbs or quick vaults.

The combat is pretty solid although you are prevented from using some of the better abilites due to levels so i can feel a bit same-y. when you get those combat upgrades though, you start to feel like you have control over the infected and even some human grunts. A fully powered Kyle Crane is a Beast even here! ;)

The Story feels a bit slow to start but after some shocking twists, you really start to get invested and want to see it through to the end. Kyle feels a bit generic at the start but is quite the fun protag and Roger Craig Smith's performance is one of the highlights since he play the part really well (It's also funny to picture sonic saying this stuff)

Harran is also a pretty city to explore even after 10 years, this game i think has really held up even before the ultra texture upgrade this year. (2025) it very rarely feels like a chore to go and hunt for rare components like electronics and plants for crafting boosts and better weapons or attachments.

All in All, I would say Dying Light is one of the most enjoyable open world and zombie games out there, you can even play with friends or hunt them and others down in a 1v1-4 multiplayer mode as the night hunter!

If you're still unsure then you can wait for a sale as it usually goes for cheap with a good amount of DLC (Which bring their own crazy weapons and outfits to the game)
