Fantastic callback to King's Field. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an action dungeon crawl with lots of esoteric secrets to uncover.

Tell Me Why is the newest narrative driven game from French developer DONTNOD Entertainment, following their previous efforts in the genre, Life is Strange and Life is Strange 2. This game follows very much in those two titles's footsteps to the point where you might wonder why this wasn't released as Life is Strange 3. All of that is to say, if you like Life is Strange, there is a very good chance you'll enjoy what Tell Me Why has to offer.

For anyone who isn't familiar with the previously mentioned games, Tell Me Why offers strong characters involved in compelling and realistically presented situations mixed with some supernatural slants. A large focus of the game play is you exploring the environment these characters operate in and then make choices that promise to have long lasting effects on both the relationships between the characters and on how the story plays out.

As of the time of this review, only Chapter 1 has been released. While I heartily recommend it now, I will definitely edit this review and change my suggestion if I find later chapters to be disagreeable.

Watch here to see how I arrived at this opinion:

This is a rough one, folks. I went into this generally positive because I liked the clean 80s anime aesthetic, but the PC release of the game is just too glitchy to recommend. I'm hoping I can find a fix or maybe Bandai Namco releases a patch, but until then, this is a no go from me.

Glitches I came across include:
Blurred/Vibrating Character Models
Controls Randomly Reversing
Tutorial Match Soft Locked
Power Shot Mechanic Not Working Correctly
A.I. That Just....Stops Doing Anything

Early Access Review

Rogue Legacy 2 is still very early in development, even for an Early Access game. So far it isn't doing a ton that the previous title didn't, but it is still doing it very well.

Included in the game so far, as of this review, is one complete biome that features a boss, two traversal upgrades to unlock, and various blue prints and runes to find in chests. There is also an unfinished biome that is fun to explore, but doesn't serve too much of a purpose at the moment, outside of getting a sneak peak at things to come.

If you enjoyed the first game, you will ultimately enjoy this as well. If you aren't interested in following along with development and just want a complete roguelike metroidvania-ish adventure to go, you might be better served for waiting for the full release, or at least some major content updates.

Very fun escape room game. Puzzles weren't obtuse and there are even a couple of secrets. I'm not hip to the entire Rusty Lake universe, but maybe I should be!
