Not a great game. Not a long time player or anything, but this game isn't worth the price tag. You can probably get a few hours out of it if you're running around trolling with your friends, but it's hard to do even that without getting shot from the last place you look. Furthermore, nothing in this game is consistent. Sometimes you fire at someone and die instantly, sometimes you fire at three people and you kill all three. I could ramble on and on but the bottom line is, if you're looking for something to sweat your ass off playing, pick up anything else before you come here.

I'm surprised I didn't hear of this game sooner, it's got a cool story, fun mechanics, diverse classes, and practically everything else I like in a game. As far as rogue-lite games go, this one tops my list hands down.

A lot of fun, especially with friends. Run around, blast things in the face, buy things to help you blast things harder better and faster, and when you inevitably get blasted back, try again for round two. Simple, satisfying, love it.

A simple game about shooting aliens, hitting rocks, and kicking barrels. It has the same kind of vibe that Borderlands has, where you're laughing the whole way through and somehow you're still invested in what's going on. Great game.

Actually one of my favorite games, I started playing a little while ago by now, but if you love strategy games like Civ 6 and you love sci-fi (like I do) this game is the best of the best. Want to play as the borg? Done. Make a Star-Trek-style federation? Done. Play as the friendliest little space-starfish you've ever seen? You bet! And the Steam workshop has pretty much every mod you could think of. I normally give my favorite things a 9/10 with the philosophy that there's always better, but this game gets a 10/10 from me. Couldn't stop playing, and still stay up until 5 in the morning every now and then taking over the galaxy.

I'm updating this review while I'm absolutely fuming, but honestly a lot of these problems have been sitting with me for a while. I can't recommend this game anymore. There are some aspects that I really love about this game, the mechanics at its core are really good, and the skill trees are really enjoyable. But I have a growing list of grievances that the devs seem determined to double down on.

The main problem that has been around forever is the performance. I have a pretty good pc and running this game above medium is killer, especially in areas like the wasteland. This exacerbates my second issue, which is the combat, specifically sniper rifles. I love playing with snipers, they're extremely satisfying when you use them correctly, but they focus on head shots, which is IMPOSSIBLE when you're chugging along at sub-30 fps. I had always brushed it off with "oh they'll fix it on full release," but here we are.

Next up is the crafting system. Crafting magazines are a system I think the devs should have thrown out before they ever added it to the game. It penalizes you for playing in a cooperative party by forcing you to save different magazines for someone else if you want to get anything done, ruining your backpack space, and it gets really old looking in every nook and cranny trying to find the ones you need. Not to mention the system as a whole artificially caps your growth, which is SUPER UNFUN and really drags out a lot of simple things. Want to rush a gyrocopter? Tough luck. Have everything you need to make a better weapon? Darn, you're three magazines short. It's an insane pain in the butt.

How can I mention crafting without mentioning looting and resources? I never noticed this problem until I made a word with my friends that we got really far in, but they must have nerfed the hell out of looting or something because you can NOT find a lot of things you want. I don't find legendary items in loot anymore, if it's still possible it's EXTREMELY rare. I don't recall if you ever did, but it isn't possible to find high-quality ammo in loot boxes either, and the normal ammo that you DO find you find waaaaaaay too much of. 7.62 ammo doesn't stack higher than 150, which is super annoying because machine guns chew through ammo like nothing, and wasting like 8 inventory slots on ammo feels awful. I acknowledge that bigger bullets taking more space than smaller bullets makes sense, but I refuse to accept any argument based on realism for a game that removed cans and jars from existence.

Looting aside, the traders got nerfed to the ground to the point that they don't even feel worthwhile. They give no good rewards under any circumstances anymore, and they keep all the good food and drinks in the vending machines where bartering bonuses don't apply. Farming got hit hard too, unless you max out the perk it's not even worth it, and even if you stack all the bonuses you possibly can on it seed rng can still just ruin you. Which is especially tragic, because at some point someone on the dev team decided that duct-tape, and by extension, cloth, and by extension cotton, should be used in every recipe, in copious amounts. Making a weapon? Duct tape. Vehicle? Tape. Rockets for your rocket launcher? Duct tape. Which is annoying in its own right, but it's made worse by the fact that you can't just find weapons or gear that you want anymore. Loot doesn't have level 6 gear and traders sure as hell aren't giving you that as a reward anymore. You used to be able to focus on pretty much whatever you wanted in this game and still end up with great stuff, but at some point they changed enough stuff so that now all roads lead to crafting.

I could go on but I feel that probably summarizes how I feel about the game at this point. I hate to say it because I used to really love this game, and I still really want to, but the devs just keep nerfing the fun out of everything instead of adding new stuff, or prioritizing the player experience. It really feels like the evil version of Arrowhead, where instead of pivoting and focusing on making the game more fun, even if its unbalanced, they just keep doubling down on bad ideas, like removing glassware, and adding annoying magazine systems, and making every recipe take duct-tape and acid. I don't mean to hate, and I hope that anyone who reads this can appreciate that I'm a very frustrated long-time fan who wants this game to get more fun again, but until they start making meaningful changes in a positive direction, consider this review tough love.

I can not explain how much I love this game, it is super relaxing and a lot of fun in multiplayer, and all the characters are unique and fun to interact with. It's fun trying to find out what gifts everyone likes, designing your farm, slaying monsters in the mines, and searching the woods for food and flowers. The game is quite the peaceful passtime, and I absolutely adore it. 10/10 I say.

This game is basically chess but in the 4th dimension on steroids, and I absolutely love it. It's very fun building an army, rushing to get a scientific advantage over others, build your economy, and keep those foreign missionaries off your land. Is it worth the price they currently charge? Well no, wait for a sale definately, but the only complaint I have about the game itself is that the bots couldn't care less if you're in an alliance and go to war with someone. They don't help EVER. Otherwise, play with friends! It's a lot of fun going for the domination victory with allies at your side. (My friends don't like how triggerhappy I am, but we rarely win any other way. Takes too long lol.)

10/10, would waste life again

I cannot describe how much I loved this game. I came across it a few years ago, when it was in early development thanks to Jacksepticeye. I didn't know much about it back then, but I knew that not only was it a survival game that takes place underwater, but it was also on an alien planet! To me, huge bodies of water both intreague me more than anything else, and give me the worst nightmares, so naturally I had to get my hands on this game as soon as possible. I loved getting to experience each update when it was released, and slowly getting more and more and watching as the game came into what it is now, in its full release. The sense of exploration, the creatures, the story, the base building mechanics, to me this game is golden. I would recommend this game to anyone, including anyone who reads this. It truly is one of my favorite games of all time.
