Strange but interesting little experience. It felt like a live art installation to me, and I would be willing to pay a dollar for that, so I recommend it.

(There is a bug where text to speech turns on permanently, To turn it off press "v" during the intro screen where it tells you about the fullscreen and audio buttons.)

Steam recommended me this for the "sit back and relax" award nomination. After starting this, that is exactly what I am doing. Mostly because this is a desktop pet whose gameplay extent starts and stops at sitting back and relaxing while staring at it.
10/10 performed as advertised

Sometimes it's nice to have a little low-stakes game, and that's exactly what this delivers. It's a short and sweet casual clicker game with pretty art and a delightful soundtrack!

Virgo Versus the Zodiac is a unique RPG entry with a fun story and engaging, if sometimes confusing, mechanics. It encapsulates the classic RPG feel while bringing novel elements that modernise the gameplay.

By far the best parts of the game are the music and art. Every track in the OST is rocking, and the animated sprites are gorgeous. Seriously, I was blown away by the OST as soon as the title screen faded in, and every battle had me losing chunks of health trying to absorb the combat animations. The characters are no slouch either, although they're all quite silly, so don't expect any serious worldbuilding - there are times when the story gets a little more serious but it always seems to be a side note. Speaking of the story, it can be a little haphazard at times. I found it overall enjoyable, though, and most importantly, fun to follow along with.

Now onto the not-so-bright parts. Virgo has a few glaring gameplay issues, the biggest of which is overcomplexity. As soon as you start the game you're bombarded with numbers. Each character has tens of statistics, with just as many equipment slots, with each item having several stats themselves and countless status effects - you get the idea. Although it becomes more manageable after playing for a while, it's an overwhelming amount of information to throw at a new player and could understandably dissuade them from playing further. The higher level of customisation this offers the player IS nice, but thoroughly unnecessary, especially as you get further into the story and become more powerful.

Having said that, the main combat gameplay loop is immensely satisfying. My neurons were activated every time I hit a timed prompt perfectly. The slick animation and sound design that followed was a nice additional reward. The counter system is cool, too, and adds strategy that fits in well with the timing-based gameplay. (There is something to be said about the difficulty of these systems, but Virgo offers an in depth options menu to tweak its difficulty so that players of any skill level can have an enjoyable experience.) I feel like the mechanics were so close to greatness; I still found the overall gameplay enjoyable despite its overcomplexity. A little bit of streamlining would have gone a long way.

One last thing I want to touch on is polish. Virgo seems to be a bit lacking in this regard, with frequent visual and audio bugs. I'm not sure if this was actually a bug, but music did not change during some battles, instead continuing to play overworld audio, which was jarring to me. Other than that, it was nothing major enough to disrupt my experience, just audio cutting out strangely and sprites not rendering/overlapping in the wrong order.

Virgo took me around 30 hours to play through once, which puts it in full-length RPG territory. It does require some patience, but I would still recommend giving the game a try regardless; it can't hurt to at least experience some of the fantastic music and flashy animations it has to offer!

Before Your Eyes is a short game that explores the transient nature of life in an appropriately fleeting, but memorable, narrative.

It's quite romantic in its presentation, in the sentimental sense of the word. To me, it almost reads like a gallery piece - but I think that's exactly what it's trying to do. It captures that artsy style well. Despite this, the story is grounded, and players may very well draw parallels to their own experiences.

The blinking mechanic is an interesting narrative vehicle which helps convey the personal nature of the story. It, along with some well-designed object interactions, bring about enough agency that it doesn't feel like you're purely watching a movie (even though that's basically what you're doing). I would go as far as to say it almost carries the entire experience. I highly, highly recommend playing with it on.

I did see several reviews about blink detection not working with glasses, but I was able to get it to function fine with some recalibration here and there.

If you're looking for a charming 1.5-2 hour experience that will pull at your heartstrings (and possibly strain your eyeballs), Before Your Eyes is for you. It might even get you to reflect a little bit on your own life. Who knows?

Truly, a game held back by executive decisions. Poor CDPR devs.

It could have been so much more, but as it is, it is an overall decent experience gameplay wise. The visual and audio design is definitely the highlight of the game - the soundtrack is especially good, and the environments really lock in the cyberpunk atmosphere.

One small thing I noticed that really surprised me was the multiple reload animations for weapons, not even including tactical/empty reloads; I can't think of any other modern game that does that off the top of my head. That, in addition with the copious amounts of cut content and the writing just skimming the edge of greatness, reinforces the idea of just how much more this game could have been if CDPR actually let the devs finish developing the damn thing.

However, disregarding all the hype and just taking the end result as what it is, I still recommend it, though definitely not at full price.

I've been using this with two feet trackers in VRChat and miming walking around is much more comfortable than just standing while moving, especially in longer sessions. It also decouples your view from the direction you're walking, which means you can move and look around, which is pretty cool.

Great tool that I recommend for anyone looking to be a bit more active in games with a lot of traversal!
