Now, at the time I'm writing this review, the game is rather far away from completion, with a release rate of barely 1 per year, which has rightly earned them some criticism, because there is most definitely cause and reason to asking for the product you paid for. The format in which I am going to review this product will be with the individual episode, and then, when the final episode is released, a sum-up/TL;DR will be at the bottom.

Episode 1
The first episode sets an incredible standard for the rest of the series to follow, as it sets the stage of an incredibly visceral and surreal saga with awe-inspiring beauty, in even the most subtle of ways. It introduces the player to set characters, as well as the main system of the game, basically being able to write your own character's story and character development, leading to a huge amount of dialogue. Out of the three currently released, this one is most likely my favourite, as it's when the game is still slightly odd (Constantly burning trees, ghosts, .etc) without stepping into the territory of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane.

Episode 2
The second episode allows for the backstory of the already presented characters to come to light, as well as what exactly The Zero is, its relevance to the surrounding characters, and its use. One of the greatest experiences in a game I've ever had the immense pleasure of enjoying was exploring the Zero, all of its nooks, crannies and locations.

Episode 3
The third episode introduces colourful and enjoyable characters into the game, as well as some of the most atmospheric computer segments in a game ever. This was most likely my least favourite of the episodes so far, but I still enjoyed it far more than other adventure games that came out this year (Life is Strange).
(TL;DR before Episode 4: Would I reccommend this game in it's current state? Only if it was to somebody that greatly enjoyed a story intense and immersion based experience.)

But in order to enjoy this game it's true atmospheric glory, I would suggest playing the game with someone in the room, in order to converse the significance of events in the game and characters. After grabbing that person, turn your lights off, close your blinds and explore The Zero.

So, this games first 2 episodes set the mood really well, and serve as incredible atmosphere builders, but from then on, the plot holes and inconsistencies grow to a very noticeable level, with a huge portion of the characters being very annoying. On top of that, the "jokes" within the game are just "pop culture lols" that serve only to make one grimace. The third episode onwards are incredibly dull, and the ending for the game is atrocious. It consists of undoing everything you did in the game, except for completely uncontrollable things that for some reason change, but you have to kill off an incredibly annoying character. Shame. The other ending consists of undoing everyything you did in the game and killing a town of people to save the most annoying character in the game. Yea. Cool game.

(TL;DR, only buy it if you can tolerate "internet culture maymays", terribly written characters, a poorly thought-out story, visuals straight out of Metal Gear Solid 1 and more plot-holes than Star Wars episode 3.)

What to say about this game... it's a rabbit hole. At first, and for a while it can be quite enjoyable. But then you start to notice the flaws. The game-breaking, awful looking flaws. The terrible graphics. The terrible NPCs. The terrible AI. So many factors of this game are worse than it's predecessor, and to top off the $100+ of mostly useless and miserable DLC, there's now microtransactions in the game. Dead serious. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ micro transactions. When 70% of the guns in the game are useless, you can get get a skin that makes it slightly better. Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ serious? This is possibly the dumbest business decsion ever, the reason it works with CS:GO is because there's a tiny pool of weapons and they're all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good.

In the case of Payday 2 however, nobody wanted this. Nobody asked for this. If someone wanted this, they downloaded a mod. Instead we get this, which is basically Pay-2-Win, and nobody likes it. They promised years more support for this game, instead of making a new one. So basically, they're going to take this game that launched well, had tons of free content, and then nosedived into a world of paying for grenades. And then this. Overkill are going to milk the ♥♥♥♥ out of this cow, and beat it till it's dead, when to me, and most of the community, this marks the day of the end of the death throes of Payday 2.

(TL;DR, don't buy this game, buy Payday 1 if you want a heist game.)

My opinion for this game is a... complicated one, so if you don't care for specifics, just take it as positive.

As someone that has been a diehard fan of the Bioshock series ever since its conception, I can't consider this game an addition to the series, and not because it's not (primarily) set in Rapture, but because it doesn't hold any common ground with any game containing "shock" that was headed by Ken Levine.

The weapons, unlike its predecessors, are lackluster and dull, with the majority of them being useless, or phased out by far more viable guns (try finding some footage of this game where somebody isn't just using the carbine and hand cannon).

The "tonics" by far feel like the weakest thing about the game, with all but 2-3 of them feeling worthless, and unlike the other games, the use for them to access secret areas containing additional audio logs and loot are very sparse.

Now, for the additional game mechanics.

The lockpick "system" (if you can bare over glorifying this poorly-implemented gimmick to call it that) is atrocious, and because they couldn't be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to think of a new hacking minigame, they just added the occasional safe or door that requires the use of your precious and rare "lockpicks" to find out whether or not you just got screwed over because you spent all of them opening a door to reveal some ammo that you already maxxed out on, you may see a safe up ahead that requires only 2 and without a shadow of a doubt holds some of the best loot in the game. All in all, barely thought-out and dissapointing.

The Elizabeth system is trivial and dumb, and they only put it in to make the game not seem like an escort quest. The level design could have been exactly the same and it would've been fine if they just implemented the occasional hook every here-and-there, and would actually encourage the player to fan out further in order to find supplies.

Sidequests- eh.

The skyrails were very well done, but incredibly underused, and just came across as another gimmick to be used in a level every now-and-then.

The story? Alot of people harp on about how this game has an excellent tale, with a strong supporting lore, but I would heavily disagree, even the background story provided through audio logs in Bioshock 2 (The strongest and most underrated aspect of that game, by the way) is more solid and integral than that of this game. The multi-dimensional aspect of the story is mind-mushingly simple, especially considering what they could've done with it, and I feel that it is an insult to the saga, and a disappointment after Minerva's Den for 2. Another nitpick is that when Elizabeth is supposedly depressed and undergoing complete psychological trauma, she still has it in her to yell a whimsical comment as she throws you some ammo or picks a lock. The alleged and critically acclaimed "twists" in it feel incredibly predictible.

Character Progression- Tonics get really dull and uninteresting upgrades. There is no system similar to that of the Little Sisters. The weapon upgrades dullness is second only to that of the weapons themselves. You can only hold 2 weapons. The only remnants of the moral choice system showcased in the original display of the early version of this game is at the very beginning, and has no impact at all.

As much as I've been harping on it, this is still a good game. Just not a good -----Shock game. Although many of these issues are fixed the Burial at Sea expansion pack, they still aren't part of the base game, which is by far what really counts. I thoroughly recommend this game, though you may want to pick it up at a discount...

Metro: 2033 serves as a testament to the potential of an adaption of a novel into a form of interactive media, with a world similar to that of Stalker, and its own unique and intriguing story and background lore, this serves as a very outstanding and unique game, with everything being well thought-out and planned, even down to that of the currency. Although there are some glaring isssues in the game (due to it's age), the clunky stealth is upgraded dramatically in the sequel and remake. Always a solid pick-up, especially due to the frequency of when you can get it for free.

If monotony and boredom in a game that will never be completed and is inferior to another version of it, then this game will be great for you! But I consider it to be a steaming and worthless heap of festering and congealed excrement.

Runs well, looks great, and plays amazingly. Even in it's barebones Early-Access state, it still includes 4 classes, a small pile of weapons, an assorted menagerie of genetic abominations, a bucket of beautifully crafted gore (seriously, you can shoot parts of the ZED's skull and still have them cutting you to pieces) and a tough-as-nails corrosive cyborg german doctor that will kick your ♥♥♥♥ in.

As it is early access, I plan on updating this review as to what changes with each major patch. But yea. It's fantastic.
