A genuine one of a kind near masterpiece with some flaws yes like Hit Reg and numerous bugs, but has created some unforgettable memories with my friends, a great progression system. fantastic graphics, wonderful music, fun gameplay loop etc.

This game has one super massive flaw I have to give everyone a heads up for though, it's one I never really mentioned before, but now is a good time to talk about it.
Let me explain, because you'll get actual brain rot from dealing with them.
When you buy or play a game, the first thing you see for it is it's name/title, and it can tell you a lot about the game without even touching it.
Left 4 Dead? Well it's a play on "Left for dead" implying you're left behind to die, and the 4 replaces the for, meaning it's important in some way, and after looking at promo material, you realise it's about the 4 player coop.
Team Fortress 2? Well there are Teams, in a Fortress, and it's a sequel! So it's going to be a Multiplayer fighting game!
Minecraft? Simple, there's mining and crafting!
Call Of Duty? It's a well known phrase used in the military, and the sub titles are often tied to the millitary as well, implying this game will be about the millitary!
And according to a scary amount of Sea Of Thieves Players, despite the title implying that this is a game about a Sea full of thieves, more specifically Pirates who were known to be ruthless and aggressive, it's actually a game where everyone should hold hands and be friendly to one another, other wise you'll be reported for toxicity, called racial and homophobic slurs, and IRL threats. The amount of times this has happened to myself, my friends, numerous amounts of players online, recorded as well or not, with 0 care how foolish they look, is ridiculous, and while yes it's funny, the problem is that these players are a lot more common then you think and their actions are going to have major consequences for the game's health playerbase wise but the game itself, because these players are easily the loudest out of all them.

Sea Of Thieves on the surface looks simple and easy, and like most videogames at first glance, it's a lot more complex then you realise, however while in most other games if I see a new or middle of the range player, they might get upset, but they choose to improve, for an example if they're doing bad in a game, they will switch up their game plan to try and do better, like change character in Overwatch 2, swap to a new weapon in Borderlands, or maybe just simply ask for more help in Darktide.

Sea Of Thieves players? They never learn, they will constantly try to sword you while you out range them, they always try to rush and not take things slower leading them to fall overboard or die quickly, they never see patterns like you blunderbombing them from their mast and they NEVER LOOK UP! They never try any other weapons except in literal desperate situations, and the most annoying thing, is when players such as myself and many more create guides on Steam or YouTube to HELP these players, they don't look at them! And just circlejerk each other on forum posts about adding PvE only servers on the forums or massively buffing Safer Seas THE TUTORIAL MODE, which will literally kill the game, but they don't care, they want their 100 Gold for their Seafarers Chest, then never touch the game again till the next update.


I made 2 really important forum posts, on the official forums (not steam), and I was hoping to get some constructive comments, I was expecting the one or two idoit posts, you always get them... oh boy I wasn't prepared...

The First post was about Season 12's Community Weekend, a special event that only happens roughly 4 times a year, now during Season 12, there was a game breaking glitch causing players to crash, making the game UNPLAYABLE! I was lucky not to have this glitch, but my friend and thousands of other players reported this glitch, and the insulting part is that before the event, Rare ANNOUNCED they got fixes coming, the next week after the event, and instead of hotfixing the fixes in, nothing happened, meaning a good chunk of players missed the event due to Rare's incompetence to hotfix the game, therefore out of their control and I believe they should be compensated in some way, I posted this on the forums, explaining my view, hoping for players to agree in someway, to help their fellow players.
But instead of that, snarky a** comments came in waves, all because "I didn't have crash, therefore never happened" despite the hundreds of reports of the crashes, or "Rare never compensated before" despite them doing numerous of times before OUTSIDE of events, or "oh you lazy, you want more community days" completely ignoring the fact saying that I took part in the event and got what I wanted, and the thousands of reports of the crashing... yea me being lazy and greedy, that's exactly what the thread was about... not about players that weren't me being compensated... it's about me being lazy and greedy... (if you can't tell, that's sarcasm) and some of these players who said these WERE DAY 1 PLAYERS! Yea they've been asleep since Day 1 because I can literally pull up posts countering all of their arguments, I left the thread to rot because I cba fighting anymore since too many of them are that stupid.

The second one was WORSE! It was about exploits, I only used some of them to mess around with friends, I don't use them offensively personally, my main crewmates can tell you that, and I want these fixed, I explain how too fix them as some are tied to the engine instead of just the game or Rare's coding, and exposing these exploits because the best way for anything to be fixed is the talk about them and not hide them, plus all of these exploits had names so everyone knows what they are, but as well replacement/gameplay suggestions so they aren't completely gone because they're fun to do, for an example I suggested a fix for "Crud Launch" and for the replacement, a special Medicine Ball that when out, you gain a similar effect to the "Crud Launch" allowing for slightly easier boards, a way to catch runners, and more accurate landings, making the game more interesting and fun for both sides.
What did the comments say?
THEY IGNORED EVERYTHING AND JUST SAID REPORT THOSE DOING EXPLOITS AND NOT TALK ABOUT THEM...
So according to them, if we don't talk about them, just report them, and not suggest replacements... they will be fixed!... Except 2 of the Exploits I mentioned have been around SINCE LAUNCH! "Crud Launch" as well possibly being there since launch (we're not sure of that) and the 4th only being discovered due to third party software cheaters abusing it... I suggested fixes for all 4 of these exploits but again, all ignored, sweep it under the rug... I deleted the thread because oh my god the comments were just eating my sanity away.

These 2 are the worst offending posts, but I also had...

A post about me being possibly the first to reach level 100 in "Value of Treasure Shared on the Quest Board" before the changes to captaincy, and I was wondering if I was the first or if someone has beaten me... INSTANTLY BLOCKED BY MODS... ok? It didn't violate any rules, but I guess they didn't like gloating... except people did the same thing about unlocking cosmetics, other milestones or the Shourded Ghost... guess they don't like me.

I also did the compensation post on Reddit, got some comments to agree, but again blocked by mods despite not breaking any rules.

There is a lot more, like bootlicking, but if you can get past the stupid stupid community, you'll have a great time in SoT! It's one of a kind!

Pros:

Really good voice acting for a free mod.

Lots of unquie classes, each team has a unquie class instead of being re-colours like in TF2.

A lot of gamemodes.

Lovely maps and are well designed.

Achievements can sometimes give you Parrot colours and titles! Like for an example "Joe The Brave" or "Fred The Coward."

The Sniper classes are easily some of the most balanced in gaming, their attacks are effected by gravity and are very vulnerable to attacks.

Lots of maps and custom gamemodes from the community!

Easily the best free mod on steam.

Source Engine, hitboxes are awful as usual, however PVK2 has the best Hit detection of all Source Engine multiplayer games. Still it's unfair when the Skirmisher's pistol can't hit sh*t when shooting someone 1 foot infront of you while an axe slashes your head off 200 miles away.

Due to how hard it is to learn this game and how unknown this game is, the playerbase is rather small, unless a Major update comes out.

Teams can be horribly unbalanced depending which map you play on, in an area where there are lots of Pitfalls, Vikings will dominate, while more tighter areas make Knights very deadly, the only map where this doesn't happen often is Bt_Island which is one of the most played maps in the game.

Updates are slow because the Dev team is small and works on a game FOR FREE! You can donate at their offical website if you want to give a bit of money!

Also even though they take a long time to update, the actual updates are much higher quality then most games I play, they often add lots of new maps, balance changes, tons of bug fixes and more! Plus it's rare a new game changing bug is introduced, the only bad glitch I can think of is when on Island you can get into the Viking spawn, but even then that isn't as bad as other glitches since you or they cannot attack you. However what annoys me is when you compare this small awesome company/Dev Team to a larger company like Valve, look at TF2, makes millions a day, most updates are either g*mped of content like EOTL or massive cashcows like the Robotic Boogaloo update and even the best update of 2015 Gun Mettle which makes all the other cashcow updates look like nothing, plus TF2 is still full with glitches, so much infact that it makes Ride To Hell look polished sometimes.
Sorry for the rant, but like I said I hate it when I compare a small company which makes next to no money and makes a much more polished game, then a large company which makes millions and don't want to fix all the major issues with the game 90% of the time.

Well anyhow PVK2 is a very hard game to learn, however once you learn it, it's one of the best FPS on steam and I highly recommend this game to anyone.
