I've been following Black Mesa since I ran into it researching Valve's Hammer editor for a college project. Over the years, it truly looked to be vaporware... but then it released! Except for a few early rough corners involving game balance, the game is now a beautiful experience. The "lack" of Xen is not a problem; I never really enjoyed Xen anyway, so it's "lack" is actually a plus to me. All in all, I very much recommend this game.
